Diagnosed last week

My pre-assessment was fine. I got there at 9.15 and was out by 10.45 - everything was fine. Didn’t get a talk from nurse just weight, height, BMI, blood pressure, 3 bloods taken, MRSA test, urine, ECG. Most of the time was spent waiting, half an hour before I was seen. Then a wait of 20 minutes for ECG. Just now waiting for op on Tuesday.

Hi
Sorry that you have all received the diagnosis we never wanted to hear but as everyone has already said the forum is a great place for ‘real’ information sometimes in real time (people who have experienced the same and are going through it at the same time which helps enormously!)
Caroline,as nannabarb has said a lot is dependent on the operation that you will be having. I had a lumpectomy (sometimes referred to as a WLE) and a biopsy of the Sentinel Node (SNB). I was in hospital as a day patient and came home without any drains, however I did return to the hospital and had my surgery site drained twice (all totally painless and not to be worried about).
edited to include that as has already been said the excercises are really important and please do them as instructed.

Hope everything goes well and if there is any information I can help with then please let me know.
Take Care
Karen

Hi Everybody
I have sent for the exercise leaflet and DVD after reading how important they are. Still not looking forward to operation next week. Really scared today. Need some cheering up.

Hi Jennifer63, I feel for you - I will be in the same position on the 14th, I have read and listened to really loud music when the scary thoughts come into my head. I also had a good cry last night while trying to sleep. The helpline ladies on BCC are brilliant. They calmed me down - Iv also phoned my BC nurse who was really helpful. I hope all goes well for you.

Regards

Caroline

@Caroline60 and @Jennifer63,
have you ventured down to the thread breastcancercare.org.uk/community/forums/standing-outside-dark-dark-woods ,
Its for/by people that are just embarking on their treatment journey. There are serious/ helpful comments ,together with lots of laughs and ways of coping with dark feelings and a feeling of real friendship. Another nice place is BENCHLAND. Take a look in them both, there are thousands of posts to work your way through and get to know how these threads work.
They both have really helped me, even though I have finished active treatment, and am on Anastrozole/Arimidex for another 4 years.

I had a good day yesterday, felt quite calm and positive, then I had very bad night and feel quite weepy today. 2 weeks tomorrow, can’t wait til its over, roll on the 16th!

Hi nanabarb, have went into link - very funny - thanks for that.
