I am five weeks post op from my left mascetomy. My results so far hormone e receptor estrogen positive her2 -… my oncotype test was 16. My tumour size was 10cm with five tumours and other forms of cancer in situ. No node involvment
I’ve now have just 7 days left of waiting for my ornocolgist and treatment appointment.
I have a radiation consultation for the folowing week.
The waiting is agony to my mind and I’m just want to know .
If I’ve have the radiation appointment the following week does this mean I’m more likely not to be having chemo?
Are there any.ladies.out there who have been in the same situation as me and what treatments did you have.
I’m waiting for my genetic counsellinģ appointment which is the following wèk due to b/c being in my family
Any suggestions for me
Kind regards to you all xx louise
Hi Louise,
What have they said to you about the possibility of chemo?
I didn’t have your diagnosis, but I have seen other ladies here who had a similar diagnosis to you & did not need chemo. Hopefully, one of the others will be along to advise whose diagnosis was similar to yours.

Hello Luiz. I have just received my oncotype results nd mine was 22 lower end of intermediate and was told no chemo just rads and tabs. Has chemo been mention at your appointments? My cancer was tiny apparently so maybe shouldn’t compare as I had wle and snb no node involvement and clear margins. Chemo would have been to prevent coming back elsewhere in my body at a later stage. Start rads sometime in the next 4 weeks but no appointment come through yet. Hope this helps a little
Hi Luiz, sorry you find yourself here. I had a very large tumour with diffuse margins and I had lymph node involvement. I had to have chemo to shrink the tumour for surgery and because of the lymph node involvement. If they think they can get clear margins on surgery you may not need chemo and may go straight to rads then endocrine therapy. They will make the best decisions to reduce your risk of recurrence. Sending hugs. Xxx
Hi Luiz,
I also had invasive lobular cancer. I had 11cm of cancer removed during the mastectomy and significant node and skin involvement. I can’t have radiotherapy due to having had it previously for a different cancer in the same breast 12 years ago. I do have to have chemo because of the nodes.
Years ago the first time round I just had a lumpectomy and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. Hopefully get away with not having the chemo. Finger crossed.
Hi Debbie, it is a nuisance because radiotherapy is far and away the easier option. Unfortunately it does damage the area it’s given so can’t be repeated to the same area. If I’d have had the new cancer in the other breast I’d have been good to go but no such luck.
