Diagnosis v Insurance

Me again…

Can I just bother you all with another question?

I have some small breast implants (not big Jordan ones!) that I had done to fill up the saggy skin I was left with after breast feeding years ago, they’re only a B cup so only small but don’t know if I’m gonna have probs with them being able to feel around or see on any mammos or scans. Does anyone have experience with this situation? I’m wondering if they’re going to make diagnosis difficult?

Jx

Hi J

I also have implants (18 years ago) I had them for the same reason as you just to refill after breastfeeding and the consultant says that as long as we have an ultrasound they should be able to see most of the breast tissue. When I go I have mammogram and ultrasound every time. Also I am wondering if your lump could be due to your implant. I have a couple of lumps on my right breast which are due the the implants (which is why I went to the hospital last year) they werent worried about them at all but also found a fibrodoadenoma and microcalcification on the left breast. One of my implants is quite a lot firmer than the other on the right side. Just a thought.

Thanks Yvonne
I guess it’s possible it’s something to do with the implants, you think after having them so long you wouldn’t have problems, but then i guess lumps develop at any time and for many different reasons. Fingers crossed my lump is nothing at all and I’ve spent all this time worrying for nothing!

Now THAT would be great news!!!

Oh by the way congratulations on your wedding.

Yvonne xx

Thanks  I’m hoping the wedding plans will keep me sane by helping me focus on something positive while I’m getting results!

Jx

If it is your implants they will be able to tell you on the day. Fingers crossed eh!!

Everything crossed! Even my eyes… ha! x

I’m so pleased you’ve made the decision to get the lump checked out, but more importantly have shared this with your partner. It must feel a lot better now that he knows and can share the concerns with you.

I so hope that everything is okay for you and will be thinking of you on Monday. Do let us know how you get on!

Take care

Thanks Gill

It certainly does feel better now I’ve told him, I usually bottle things up for a while before I can get my head around it. He’s been great so hoping for a ‘nothing major’ result! What a way to start married life if it turns out to be anything worse :frowning: he’s very supportive though so I class myself as lucky either way!

Jx

I will keep everything crossed that you get a favourable result. Aim for the ‘it’s just a cyst’ result and and fingers crossed you will hit the mark.

Even better would be a ‘just your imagination’ result but I guess that isn’t gonna happen! I’m so pleased I came onto this site - you’re certainly all keeping me motivated!

I’ll feel such a fool if it just gets dismissed tomorrow as nothing, not foolish as in getting checked out but against all that others are going through on this site. I feel very humbled against the positivity and support you all show each other.

Love n sunshine to you all xxx

Hi Jo

Lots of luck for tomorrow will be thinking of you

Hello all

Just to let you know I’ve been to the docs and got the ball rolling - I’m just waiting on a date with the breast clinic in Grimsby which is my nearest, no idea where the hospital is there so great fun on getting lost no doubt. Doc was great apart from his freezing cold hands! He said I should’ve gone sooner so felt a bit like a naughty kid for a while… He says I’ll be seen within two weeks so don’t know if that’s good or not? What’s the usual waiting time? He wouldn’t commit to anything, no specualtion he said…

Anyhoo… pleased I’ve been and doing something about it now. Had a few tears this morning, my first ‘blub’ session since this all started so not doing too bad I reckon! Now I look like a right fright with a streaky face and puffy eyes… dead attractive! Now I’m playing the waiting game like a lot of you have done… great being a woman hey!

Hi Jo

I am pleased you went to see the Dr. Two weeks is the government set time to to be seen by the breast clinic so that is not unusual. They will more than likely do a mammogram, ultrasound, and fine needle biposy (FNA), some clinics give you the results the same day some you may have to wait a few days for the result. Generally no Dr especially GP will speculate until all tests are in, and everyone will tell you the waiting game is the worse. I hope you do not have to join us properly, however if you do you will get alot of support from everyone on here

Let us knoe how you get on and take care

Hi Jo,
so glad it went ok with your gp, as linda says being seen in 2 weeks is the norm for a breast clinic referral so don’t get too worried. I had same tests as linda describes above & got results on the same day, again i think thats pretty standard, gp was right not to speculate. the waiting is tough but hang in there, heres hoping they are able to put your mind completely at rest with the test results when you go to clinic. keep us posted.
best wishes,
rivergirl.

I hope Grimsby do a same day results service… be good to know straight away so this limbo feeling can settle down one way or another!

Well, have just been called by the breast clinic - going week weds, 23rd, for half nine.

Although I’m obviously worried and nervous, in a way I feel a bit detached too, like it’s not really happening? I have a sickly nervous tummy, just tried to eat but it wouldn’t go down too well! Ah well, if it turns out to be nothing then at least I might lose a bit of weight for the wedding! ha!

you gotta laugh hey…
