Did anyone have trouble accessing port on expander?

Hi

I had expander fitted on one side, part of stretching process to double tummy recon option. Went for the first expansion today which has the port attached to a tube, low and behold the nurse couldnt find the place where the needle needed to go. after half hour had an attempt and didnt work, then doctor came and had a go, seemed to start working and then the skin on my side started swelling. have to go back and see another nurse and possibly consultant to see what has happened incase its twisted etc. Really upset as didnt want this part as left with double FF on one side and doulbe C on bad side (including padding). Im really hoping it doesnt have to come out - anyone else had such experiences??

Thanks for any help xx

Hi,

I had a nightmare with mine, it had twisted itself upsidedown so it was a mission to fill it. Doc had to lift it up under the skin and get the needle in it. Quite painful and lots of f-ing and blinding! For my first fill it took 3 visits to the hospital. a registra who failed to do it, another consultwho failed then finally my consultant got it. Got there in the end, took about 4 or 5 fills.

Good luck.

Hi Lisaf,
I also had a problem, my port “migrated” behind the expander, almost to the position of nipple…shown in an xray!
My expander is my actual implant and I couldn’t bear the thought of another op to release the port so told them to leave it, meaning I am lopsided! I can have the op anytime I want, but am happier not to!
Sorry this probably not what you wanted to hear!! Good luck with yours.
