DIEP Flap - swollen tummy or seroma?

I had a bilateral MX and DIEP flap recon 2 weeks ago (28/11)

Last abdo drain was removed on Thursday after 12 days.
PS says I need to watch out for seroma, but what is the difference between a seroma and ‘normal’ levels of abdominal tautness?
My tummy is very taut… I was exhausted yesterday and was not terribly mobile and it feels like my wound has constricted as a result. (I was able to stand pretty much fully upright since the op, but today am finding it uncomfortable)

Difficulty with post op recovery is knowing what is ‘normal’!

What does a seroma look/feel like?

(If this is seroma build up I need to go see my PS to get it drained, but he is 1.5 hours from me up in London. Have had major logistical issues as a result of not getting op done locally, but they don’t do DIEP at my local hospital so I had to travel :frowning: )

Seroma  a is fluid…like a jelly in your tummy.I had 2 aspirations, both done at the hospital where I had my DIEP done .( they are,at times reluctant to do this,as it can return, and it is better if it re-absorbs ).my tummy was hard,at the top,and finally had a CT scan

this showed it had capsulated…membrane formed round it.Cut a long story short, had to gave a further 2 operations…still did not gobut less uncomfortable …so now stuck with it.

my advice is to see them, allow the medical team to decide…I know what you mean,my hospital was over an hour away …hated going there.

i have been unfortunate …certainly not the norm…but do go and get it checked out…
