I’m due to have an SMX with reconstruction next week. I was originally supposed to be having a Diep flap with an implant but I now have a different surgeon who after examining me at the end of last week, wants to do an LD flap with implant instead. (Though it would ultimately be my choice) I’m very small framed with very l ittle tissue, but I have quite large breasts with a natural droop (I’m 50 years old…). The new surgeon is concerned that the Diep flap might fail because of the lengthy procedure and added issue of an implant. Has anyone else had a Diep flap with implant? I can’t seem to find much information about it anywhere online as it appears to be very unusual. As it’s only a week away, I’m completely thrown as I’ve been preparing and getting my head around having one procedure and now I’m possibly facing a completely different one! The LD flap scares me because of muscle involvement. If anyone has any experience that might help me make a decision (good or bad) I’d be really grateful. Thank you

Welcome to the forum . I know there are other people on the forum who’ve had these procedures and been in similar situation to you , hopefully they will spot your post and respond . The forum is a little quiet at the moment as it’s just undergone a major overhaul and people are just logging on again and finding their way around . Best of luck with your op whatever you decide .
