I saw my surgeon the other day in preparation for my masectomy - and while he will not be performing the reconstruction - he raised a question re veins in respect to my future reconscutrion - Bascially he was looking to do a full masectomy one side and a skin sparing with tissue expander on the other - we advised that him that as DIEP the skin sparing and tissue was not necessary. He then said that while most people are ok I may have issues if I do not have viens on each side for the DIEP.
Starting to do some research are these inferior epigastric perforators or deep inferior epigastric vessels. Has anyone elese heard of this - Any comments on this
Thanks in advance
