I agree with all that brilliant research Foxgem. I would also recommend The Royal Marsden Cancer Cookbook”. It’s edited by the Royal Marden’s Consultant Dietician and as well as recipes it has various ideas and tips. eg There are sections on “Dry mouth” “Taste changes” and “What to do if I’m too tired to cook”……

I could be the one to type this! I was diagnosed January 2025 and pretty much did exactly as you’ve said. I feel great now and so much better health wise than before diagnosis. I do feel it helped me to stay positive, and distracted my mind through such a shitty time. Xx

Same. I have gone the other way tbh… i was very health conscious .. now i don’t care as much at all!

I can understand that @sbee. And I also think if I’d have been very health conscious before diagnosis, I might have had a harder time with the why of it all too.

Agreed . It’s over seven years since my cancer diagnosis . I still need to lose a stone despite big efforts which work for a while and then I get bored . I don’t buy biscuits or cakes am getting my steps up now it’s spring and eat a lot of veg ( not much fruit blood sugar issues but I am not giving up alcohol because I love wine with a good meal and a beer with friends a couple of times a week . In the seven years since I was diagnosed I have seen many more women I know get diagnosed . Fell runners, teetotallers, vegetarians, modest drinkers . I hope I can be around for a couple more decades and I am still on meds for three years . As far as I am concerned that’s been the key in preventing recurrence. A glass of red with my Sunday roast is one of life’s pleasures . Have a good diet sure but it’s all a bit of a lottery

Bless you. I have given up thinking it’s anything to do with food… though every week someone else tells me their theory. What keeps me up at night is how this hasn’t been resolved as yet, given so much else is possible….

Im currently reading ‘Eat to beat disease’ that was recommend and finding it thoroughly interesting!

What do you think about certain foods for eg that are recommended for ‘anti agiogenesis’ and those for ‘stimulating angiogenesis’ if they appear on both lists when trying to reduce this? Should these be avoided?

I am only part way through, so my apologies if this is answered further on in the book.

Hello, this a great book isnt it! So glad you are enjoying it. It really helps me sometimes to think of the benefits of what I eat. I definitely make more better choices now.

I think if you start diving too deep into the angiogenesis side of things in terms of what we can do to stop or starve cancer then you’ll never eat again because as you say there are foods that can do both. The only thing I try to cut out completely in regards to this is refined sugar. For the other foods, if they are good for my immune system and have lots of great benefits that out weighs any risks for me. I can’t worry about the angiogenesis part of things. And our bodies need a good balance of all these good foods :heart:
