diganosed a year ago, now two spots on my reconstructive bre

has anybody heard of reccurance after one year of diganosis

Hi Lollypop,
It is possible to have a recurrance at anytime.I had one at a year in my recon. Eventually they decided it was cells left at the skin surface after my biopsy. I had a WLE and rads and have been fine ever since. That was 2 years ago.
Of course yours may well be nothing, I know many people have lumpy bits checked out and they are just fatty necrosis. But its defo worth getting it checked out, hopefully to put your mind at rest.Good luck and I will keep everything crossed fo you. I know how worried you must be.

Hi there
definately contact ur bcn + get a clinic appt asap for a check up. It’s probably nothing but if it is something, u want to get it nipped in the bud as soon as poss. I had a local recurrence within weeks of finishing chemo- it can happen any time but is rare after a mx.
Let us know how u get on

get it checked out - and if it doesn’t feel right then get a second or third opinion. 3 docs told me I was paranoid. Sadly they were wrong and I was right I had two new tumours in the same breast less than two years after diagnosis.

Having said that I also had a fair few lumpy bits checked out that turned out just to be fat so try not to worry too much

Hi

I don’t think anyone on this website is going to suggest you don’t get it checked out!

Yes, it is possible to have a recurrence or a new primary very soon after surgery on a first BC (in my case 6 months) so do please get it checked out. My own experience was that my hospital team reacted very quickly - I called them on Tuesday and was diagnosed again by Thursday.

hoping that this all works out ok

Hello Lollypop

so sorry to hear this, a big shock for you and I hope you are coping ok. Well done for getting it checked out and I hope you get a treatment plan soon.

Sorry to hear the biopsy was positive :frowning: I was concerned when I first read ur post that’s why I said definately get checked out + fast. can I ask if ur bc was hormone pos or triple neg? I also had recurrence in skin on recon (I’m triple neg) but mine was very nasty because docs kept dismissing it. What is the plan? Are tgey going to remove the affected area or just treat with rads/ chemo? Good luck with the ct scan mine was clear despite the skin mets.
Best wishes

hi gingerbud, mine was not hormone positive i had four half months of chemo, rads for three weeks, and been on herecptin since dec 2010, finishes that in jan 2012 my ct scan is 11th october, but i have had two more small lumps appeared again, i panicking again, i phoned my breast nurse this moring she is going to arrange for me to see my surgeon on the thurs two day after my scan to have a look, thankyou so much for replying its nice to no i am not alone.

Good luck with ur scan it seems they are moving fast with u which is great news. Good to hear you won’t hav2 wait too long for scan results too- scanxiety is hellsh :frowning: It certainly seems skin mets are more common amongst those who are hormone neg. If this has happened on herceptin, they are likely to stop this treatment + hopefully u can have lapatnib. Pm me any time if u want to ask anything.

Most recurrences happen in the first two years, so yes. BUT, they can often be treated successfully, usually with mastectomy and depending on location (ie) chest wall, radiation. It isn’t an immediate death sentence!!! It also isn’t Stage 4 by any means either.

hi gingerbud,
i feel so much better talking to you, i had my scan this morning, and my herectin this afternoon, i will see my surgeon on thurs for my results i will let you know.

i just was reading your diagnosis you are having a tough time your self right now and having a youg baby has well but you sound very positive, i myself are 52 i have five kids they all grown up now still have two living at home. i hope everything works you hun x

Hi there  Glad the scan is done + u don’t hav2 wait too long for results. This Thursday will be here before u know it. Fingers crossed everything is fine. Do let me know. Yes I’ve had a nghtmare, diagnosed at 32 + stage 4 after 6months. I’m doing ok at tho mo (*touches wood*) after a great response to chemo earlier this year. My little boy helps keep me positive. Best of luck x
