Hi all.
I’m going out my mind with worry About 10 days ago I noticed a small hard lump in my breast about the size of a grain of rice. Didn’t think about it as my period was due but checked over the weekend and it’s still there. Also noticed on further inspection in a mirror that I’ve got some dimples in the underside of the same breast when I raise my arm, though they arnt noticable when my arm isn’t raised.
I’ve got an appointment at the DR tomorrow but I’m scared. My sister who is 4 years younger was diagnosed with DCIS at 25 though she is well now and both my paternal aunts had breastcancer in their very early 50s. One survived, one didn’t.
I know at almost 31 the chances of being something sinister are very slim but can’t help but worry.
Anyone else have these symptoms but have it be something simple?
Yes, you are right, for any breast change there mostly turns out to be a benign reason for it & there are certainly others here reporting similar symptoms, where it turned out to be something simple.
But, inevitably, the mind does go into overdrive & you are doing exactly the right thing by getting it checked out.
Obviously, you’ll let the dr know your family history & you should be referred to the breast clinic to get it properly looked at, normally for this, there is a 2 week wait for the appointment.
This may be a bit stupid but my GP is male and he’s the only GP at the practice. Whilst I realise he’s a professional and has seen all this before, and is a bit stupid to feel this way seeing as it’s over something so important, but I’m feeling a bit embarrassed about seeing him regarding this. Could I see my nurse practicitioner about this instead? I’m guessing she would call the GP in if needed? Obviously I’d go to the GP if it was more appropriate. Thanks ?
