I have just had a lovely surprise - a phonecall from Kate to update us all with her latest bulletin 
They managed to slot her in today for her rads planning and that will start tomorrow, then Mon-Thursday. The have acknowledged now that she does need help with feeding and have agreed to tube feed or drip as soon as she says she needs help. She says they are looking after her very well at the hospital - plenty of fortisips and soft foods that she can manage -yogurts etc. She is also expecting to have herceptin and zometa tomorrow. She is needing continuous morphine now as her shoulder blade and T7 is very bad.
The CT scan has shown that most things are stable or slightly improved apart from the solid tumour round her esophagus. So it looks as if the gemcarbo has done some good.
Kate is hoping that they will let her go home briefly over the weekend and then back in for the mon-thurs rads. Obviously the build up from that - likely swelling will make her very sore and uncomfortable with breathing and feeding but she hopes before that starts she will be able to have a few days at home and then go to the hospice when she needs help.
She sounded very cheery and certainly sounds as if they are taking good care of her.

Sorry to hear that Kate is not doing so well, but glad she is being treated so well. Hope she manages to get home over the weekend.

Arh so great she has rang you Dawn and appears to be getting good care in the hospice no more than the dear girl deserves.
Please keep us informed of her treatment and progress and tell her so many of us are thinking of her.

Thanks for the message from Kate – we’re all thinking about her, and hoping her radiotherapy treatment is as easy as possible for her, and that it works to reduce that tumour. So glad to hear that her care has been planned now, and hope this will give her some relief from her anxieites about the next few weeks.

I am so relieved that there is a firm plan in place for Kate, I follow news of her treatment on here. Hope so much that the new rads treatment wont be too painful and that it help to ease her problems, Dawn please let her know we are all thinking of her and rooting for her
