hi
I had my silicone implant put in in March and am still feeling discomfort, mainly round the underarm area- like it is swollen still- and some discomfort on the breast itself. I still have to wear an expander on my bra and at the end of the day it feels very uncomfortable.
Can anyone tell me what it was like for them after the implant and if the discomfort settles down?
Hi Snowie
I had a temporary expander fitted to stretch my skin before delayed recon. It was permanently uncomfortable, sometimes painful and I kept going back to the hospital and they kept sending me away again. Eventually my body started to reject it and I was quite ill and had to have it removed. I’m now waiting for recon again but they won’t be using any kind of implant as i don’t want the same thing to happen.
I hope your body isn’t rejecting the implant but I would keep going back to the hospital if you are at all concerned. Keep an eye out for any changes in your skin around it too and if you notice anything different go back and see your surgeon right away.
Good luck

Hi Snowie
I had my implant in June last year immediately after mastectomy. I still have uncomforable days. I also had radiotherapy which has made the skin quite tight. I have been wearing those bras that are a bit like a sports top. You see offers for them in magazines. I’ve had the ones with the foam inserts. I also saw my surgeon last friday and she told me to keep doing the arm and shoulder exercises even now. If you are worried I would ring BCN. Hope this helps.
