I used to enjoy a drink socially but now I have liver mets could this be dangerous? Could it encourage spread?
I certainly hope not Signet…cause I don’t plan on giving up the odd drunken taxi ride home! LOL
I’m an everything in moderation kinda girl & think it’s just as important to enjoy yourself & have a little of what you fancy to keep yourself sane & to live a full life.
I’ve never been a binge drinker, but the odd wee apple sourz & lemonade with the girls is essential to keep me smiling! ;o)
I’m sure there are many ladies who would disagree with me & say no alcohol…I think it’s a lot like the dairy/no dairy or soya/no soya debate…women on both sides of the fence & you have to decide where you sit given the ‘evidence’.

Thanks, that sounds sensible x
I am considering tee total but the odd one or two wouldn’t hurt?
Just don’t want to help it any xxx
When I was first diagnosed with liver mets (may 2007) i went to see a liver specialist, I asked him if there was anything I could do to help my liver and he said drink in moderation or not at all.
I chose not to drink at all from that day on and after 6 cycles of FEC during 2007, my ct scans on my liver are all clear and my tumour markers are in normal range.

Hi there
Yes everyone has different opinions on this but where it differs from other debates about soya and dairy is that there is strong research evidence.
I think it is a case of looking at the research and weighing up what you think. If you scroll down on the link you’ll see there is a pdf with more info.
breakthrough.org.uk/breast_cancer/breast_cancer_facts/risk_factors_general_information/alcohol.html
The other site that has more detailed info is the World Cancer Research Fund:
wcrf-uk.org/research/lifestyle_factors.php#1
There is very detailed information on that site too if you want to look at it.

We all know approximately what is good for us and what is not. We can therefore either choose to follow the best diet etc to the letter and avoid alcohol, or we can as most of us do, endulge ourselves on occasion simply because it makes life a bit more pleasurable. Any treat (and I place alcohol in this category) is far nicer is it is only now and again.
I totally agree with you Cathy. I think that’s a good approach for everyone whether they have cancer or not.
