Hi
I would really like to have a fun time with some of you ladies. We touched on this subject on another thread, so I know some would.

Margaret
Where are you in Northampton … i live in the Midlands but my daughter has just moved to Winwick… Daventry area went visisting last Sunday didnt even take an hour !! But I cpould go stay with her …perhaps she could join us ???
Maz xxxx
Hi Mazaroo, I am so pleased you have responded. I leave near to Daventry in Weston Favel area. It wpuld be great if your daughter came. I have a daughter as well and the thought of mums and daughters meeting is really nice.
It will be good if we hear from others won’t it? It’s strange but I feel as if I know ladies [including yourself] from reading their postings.
Margaret
I know me too … I am from Liverpool originally and have a meet arranged with the Liverpool Ladies on 4/7 but as I now live in Tamworth it would be nice to meet up with the local ladies ,if it gets off the ground I can stay at my daughters but it all depends where we meet …if we dont get a good response you and I could always hook up next time I visit her if you fancy it … xxxxx I have talked to all you ladies since I was diagnosed last October its good to chat to people who know exactly how you are feeling … How old is your daughter ??
Maz xxxx
My daughter is 36, she’s married and has a son 11 yrs, she has been my rock through all of this… Even if no-one else responds I would like to meet up. We could choose somewhere nice and relaxing to go. Once we’re ready perhaps we can run a few ideas.
Does your daughter have a family?
Margaret
Hi
I live in Northamptonshire and would like to meet up with you too if that is ok? I live near Towcester.
Anne
HI Margaret my daughter is 35 ,She is getting married next year her and her partner Jon dont plan on having kids I have a son of 27 as well ,I am not familiar with Norhhampton as my daughter only moved there from Runcorn last week ,as I said before she lives in Winwick ,
Hi Anne ,dont know where Towcester is but you would be very welcome .
Maz xxx
Hi Anne,
Of course your very welcome. I used to work in Towcester, but so long ago that I used to drive across the motorway and round country lanes.to get there from Northampton… Its all changed now hasn’t it?
Perhaps you have ideas as well for where we could meet up.
Margaret
Hi Mazaroo and Anne,
I have just read in the local paper that a Pink Day in aid of breast cancer is being held this Snday,15th June at Wakefield Country Courtyard. Its on the A5 between Towcester and Pottersbury.
I am going to go and if either of you cam make it at such short notice we could meet up.
Love Margaret
Hi everyone
I live in Brackley so count me in. What time are you going to Wakefield country on Sunday, Margaret? I may be able to go - got carpets being laid on Monday, so massive clear out this weekend. Might be able to slip away for an hour or so? Otherwise, would like to meet up sometime.
Cathy
Will try and make it to Wakefield Courtyard, what time are you all going?
Anne
Hi Ladies
I live in Milton Keynes but can’t make Wakefield on Sunday - am having my op on Monday 7.45am. Would be interested in any future meet tho.
Love Jo xx
Hi ladies
I am so pleased that we will be able to get together on Sunday. I have rung Wakefield Courtyard and they say the best place for us to meet would be in the OUTSIDE tearoom. There are two tearooms evidently one inside and one outside. The weather forecast looks good for the whole day.
I am going to suggest that we meet at 2.00pm but am anxious that this time is ok for everybody. So please if this isn’t convenient for anyone it can be changed and agreed upon. The event is open from 11.00am-5pm,
As for recognising each other, I will be bare…headed that is,
And now for the funny bit. The event is being organised by the hairdresser!!
I look forward very much to meeting you all. As I read postings I get a mental image of the person writing, most probably entirely wrong.
Jo, I am sorry that you can’t meet up with us. I hope that we will be able to arrange more events and we can meet you then. We all hope that Monday goes well for you,
See you soon
Margaret

Hi Jo,
I too live in Milton Keynes, but do not have my own transport to meet up with the other ladies this weekend.I have only spoken to one other lady from MK, so far. Although I am in contact with another who lives just a few streets away, who had her op and chemo a year ago.It would be lovely to meet up with a few other ladies. It can be a lonely experience. There’s a lot to talk about! Do you have family who will be visiting you in hospital? Are you having a lumpectomy? I will be down there on Monday for a blood test, before my next chemo on Wed. I have been pretty good overall with the chemo, my only side effects have been mainly from the steroids you take for three days.If you are going to have chemo, don’t worry about it! The hardest thing for me at the moment is coping with being bald! Silly, really.
I am 52, with two daughters aged 23 and 20, and I had a mastectomy in March and am now halfway through my chemo. Will pray it goes well for you on Monday,Jo. It’s a huge shock once it really hits you, but the op itself is not too bad, as long as you do the exercises afterwards and get plenty of rest, and generally look after yourself. Some advice ; Don’t rely on the hospital food as your sole source of nutrition! It’s pretty inedible, apart from the salads, which are fine. Get your visitors to bring you your favourite sandwiches or hot food. I had a little goody bag with chocolate and yogurt-coated chewy bars, etc to nibble ( very welcome in the night if not sleeping too well! ).If you need to talk, there is usually a trained nurse on duty on the ward. I found that out later! There’s a lovely McMillan nurse, called Fay, who is trained and you can meet with her any time during your treatment. She works in the oncology unit.
Will you be in the Treatment Centre? It’s lovely in there. Extremely clean. Can be a bit noisy on Monday and Tuesday nights, as they are the busiest days in theatre. I found my MP3 player very useful,to cover over the other noise when trying to get to sleep.Do you have one?
I would be happy to pop in to visit you if you are in for a few days, depending on how I feel after this chemo. I stayed in hospital for over a week, but went home for a few hours at the weekend. It depends on how quickly the fluid drains away from your op site. You will probably meet someone in same boat whilst in next week.
Hope to hear from you over the weekend, on here.
God bless, Ann xx
Hi all,
Maz Yes I know it is very short notice, sorry, but I just happened to read of it in the paper and thought go for it. I think I will wear pink as well. What a good idea.
Jen I’m sorry you can’t make it this time. Have a great day with Westie.
Joe and Ann Thats great if you can meet up early next week. It was worth this thread just for that.
I’m really pleased that there are many of us who would like a meet up and suggest that we plan a date and place that we can all get together. After Sunday perhaps if I post a few dates we can agree on a time and place convenient for us all. I do want this to happen!!
Margaret
Hi Margaret
Yes, please let me know about future dates. I think its a great idea. I really hope to make this Sunday though. How many are going so far? Is that the Wakefield Court that is the big farm shop thingy opposite the Hungry Horse (or what ever its called now?)
Cathy

I would def be up for future dates but will try to get there on Sunday if I can !!!
Maz
Hi Cathy Looking forward to meeting you. Having read your posts I think of someone naughty but nice!!
The Wakfield Country Courtyard is on the A5 heading from Towcester towards MiltonKeynes. It is approx, half way between before Pottesbury. I will ring them tomorrow to find out if it is opposite the Hungry Horse and let you know.
There could possibly be 4 of us ladies meeting, At a future date with more time for arrangements I’m sure there will be more.
Maz do hope to meet you this Sunday. Will your daughter be coming if you can make it? I’m afraid mine won’t be able to come but next time yes.
Margaret
