I had a lumpectomy and auxillary clearance in 2004 followed by chemo and radio. I have gone on to develop mild lymphoedema in my arm and chest wall. I find that every month, a few days before my period, I get a pain around the site of my op, especially around the auxillary clearance. I assume it’s hormone related. I just wondered if this happens to anyone else?
I get this too! And sometimes just under the breast! I don’t have periods anymore, stopped during chemo, but this happens every 4 weeks… I currently have pains at the other side (non surgery side) too! What’s that all about?! Never sure when to go to dr or not but very hard not to worry. Xx
Ah, so glad it’s not just me! I wonder why it happens?
Who knows??!! But these things are sent to try us! You are doing well, 7 years out of treatment! Not wanting to wish my life away but can’t wait to get a few years under my belt lol xxx
Hi
Just picked this post up as I’m currently peri-menopause and a week before my period I get an ache in my left boob (bc one). I wasn’t sure if due to surgery/rads as I never had it before.
Onc said it was linked to hormones and unless it gets very painful (thankfully not) to just take painkillers. She did note to see if continuing when next have a clinic appointment in August.
I have to say last month not so bad; but a very light period so probably is just linked to monthly cycle. I just hope goes completly when I finally reach the menopause.
Take care
Lynne
It’s wierd isn’t it. Suspected it was linked to my monthly cycle. It did get better for a while when I stopped taking Tamoxifen (last year), but now it’s back.
LilyFB - hang in there. You’ll be at seven years before you know it x
Hatts - Thanks!! xx
I haven’t had a period for nearly a year now… but I have been keeping a record, and I can now tell when I should be haing one, and the pains are def linked in…
Oh well… something else to worry about lol…!! xxx
I’ve been officially post menopausal since April 2007, but I still get an ovulation pain accompanied by period cramp every few months.
