Don't know what a "thickening" feels like

I am 75 yrs old.  I had breast cancer and a mastectomy 12 years ago.  This past month I think I have located a lump about the size of a small grape just off the “roundness” of my right breast near the underarm area.  I can locate this lump easily.  Not far from the (what I think is a lump" is a round area 1 inch by 1 inch - near the aerola.  I is firm and round.  When feeling the rest of my breast it is soft and you can feel the normal structures of the breast.  Can you have a “round” firm place on your breast around the aerola and this be normal?  I’m not sure if what I am feeling is considered a “thickening”?   I am scheduled for a Mammogram in 2 weeks.

Thanks

I had thickening but I would really struggle to describe it. The best I can do is say that my breast felt “wrong” in that area (quite a large area). its good you have a mammo soon to give you some clarity.
