Hi. I saw the plastic surgeon yesterday who said that I was candidate for both implants OR DIEP. Would have liked not to have to make the choice. I’m going to have double mastectomy so keen to hear from ladies who would have had the same dilemna or who have had DIEP on both breasts at the same time.
How did you make a decision on the method? For those who have had the double MX and DIEP how painful/long was it?

I’m having a double mastectomy this month and i will be having diep one side and poss tram the other unless surgeon decides on the day that she can do both as diep.
i have spent over a year researching options and the diep was definatley the best choice for me.
i am having prophylactic surgery so dont have things to consider like radiotherapy or chemo (unless i’m unfortunate and they find anything in the tissue i have removed)
I am counting on quite a long recovery and as i have no small children at home this is an easier choice for me than those who have.
In my job i have seen a lot of ladies who have had recon and for me diep and lat flap seem to have such good and i wanted to have breasts that felt warm and would age with me.
