DRAGON BOATING NEAR EDINBURGH!!!!

A group of Edinburgh women are trying to set up a Paddlers for Life dragon boat club in south east Scotland for women and families affected by breast cancer. There are already active groups in other parts of the country – the North West on Lake Windermere, and there is one just starting up now in the Dumfriesshire area. Dragon boating is a great way to get fit, meet other people and have a great time. Its been shown to be particularly effective for those with lymphoedema

Anyway there will be a regatta on the 3rd of October at Port Edgar Marina at South Queensferry from 10AM – 3PM. If you are interested in joining in you could organise a team of friends or just come along as an individual. Or just come along to watch. The regatta is to raise awareness for the group and the sport. It will cost £10 per person to enter.

We are in the process of setting up a website and I’ll post a link when I get it . However the main Paddlers for Life website is here:

paddlersforlife.co.uk/more%20about%20us.htm

and gives one an idea of what its all about.

Would love to hear from anyone who is interested and I can give you more info.

Hi, I have read about this before and would love to get involved but Widermere is a bit far for me (I’m in Greater Manchester) perhaps by the time I have finished treatment ther might be one nearer. I wish good luck with setting one up in Edinburgh.
Carol

Thanks for you good wishes Carol - it seems to be coming together.

We now have a website:

paddlersforlifescotlandse.co.uk/event/

This should give more information about the event and how to get involved.
