Dreaming about BC every night!!

hi, i am due to have a bilateral mastectomy on friday morning, i was diagnosed 2 weeks ago, i am positive and cant wait for the operation although anxious, i just want them off despite being offerred a lumpectomy in one? i just i dream every night of the bc, i never dream ‘normal’ dreams anymore, just always of this condition!!! is anyone else in the same boat or experienced this? will it ever go away? i am hoping that when the breasts come off i will feel better knowing that its been physically removed… hopefully then the nasty dreams will go away!!!

hi bubbles
I was dx 26 May, lumpectomy, WLE and SNB 10th June, was inconclusive for HER2 so needed further test (fish) - FINALLY got results today - am FISH negative so need rads but no chemo, and this thing completely consumes your thinking. I am hoping for a day to come when I can have a day without thinking about it. Dreams about bc too and then waking early morning in a panic. I think that this changes your life forever. Having said all that I am being very positive about it and trying to make changes in my life and my priorities. I think it is very good to be positive (can’t do any harm!)

Hi Maria

its all still really new to you… two weeks really isnt a long time to get your heard round your diagnosis and treatment… and you will still have quite a bit of waiting and getting used to your new shape etc following surgery which can be worrying for some people too.

i have had some really mental dreams regarding BC and still cant quite believe i have it again… i wake up each morning and then it hits me again.

i have some days when i feel really agitated or anxious or cant get to sleep or wake up too early… sometimes seeing your gp for some medication to get you through this difficult time can be helpful.
