Breast Cancer Care
Hi, Ruffyp.
Dry mouth is a side effect of arimidex, though in 3 years I had it maybe on 4 or 5 nights. I did have it during and after chemo. though. I was worried there was something wrong with my mucous membranes connected to the cancer but its just a drug effect. My onc. gave me some artificial saliva. But once I realised it was “normal” I decided not to try it. Drinking water and using mouthwash helped a bit. Then one day I realised the effect had passed. Hope your friend gets through it. There’s probably nothing to be concerned about. It’d be good for her to talk to the helpline on BCC if she’s worried as the moderator suggests.
Wishing you well,
Jenny
Me too! If I don’t keep drinking lots of water I get dehydrated very quickly. Nose, mouth, eyes, everything dries up! Quite unpleasant, especially the dry eyes. Just drink LOADS of water, I think that’s the way forward! x
