Early diagnosis

Hi, I’m a close friend of a very lovely lady who has today received first results from a recent mammogram. The Dr. tells her that they have found abnormalities - no lumps or tumours, just tiny pin prick type in her right breast - she is now awaiting additional tests/mammogram or possible scan to ascertain what these timy pin pricks are exactly…she has been given a “could be, possibly, maybe” which as I’m sure you can all understand has left her worrying herself crazy since 10am this morning - is there anybody who has had a similar diagnosis that could shed some light - I’m not looking for a second opinion, just a little reassurance for her over the next few days whilst she awaits further test results.
Many thanks

I don’t have the answer but am bumping this up for you.

In 2005 I had a special biopsy because of “pin prick” type markers. The tissue from the biopsy was studied and I was told it was just chalk deposits and there was no need to do anything. However 3 years later (2008) in the same breast they found a tiny tumour (8mm) and I had a WLE and radiotherapy. One of the doctors said last year “perhaps we should have done something about this 3 years ago and you might not be having to have an operation now”! But if it is chalk deposits I think they often wait to see if anything develops or not.

I had BC in left breast in 2006 and then a routine mammogram on right breast in 2008 showed Calcium deposits. In 2009 they where still on mammogram so biopsied and yes, BC in right breast all be it caught very early. I so wished i had pushed for biopsy 12 mths earlier but you go with your consultants view dont you. On a positive note - i hope it is nothing to worry about but should it be the worse news heres hoping they caught it very early
Take care
