I was just wondering if it’s normal to have radiotherapy & chemo together for cervical cancer like tania I’ve not had cervical cancer was just wondering out of intreast I’ve had chemo and rads but not together
My partner and I want to know the answer to that question too!!
I know someone at my hospital who had treatment nearly 2years ago + she had rads at the same time as chemo. She was part of a trial. My consultant told me it’s not standard practice as the rads exaccerbate the se’s off the chemo, particularly the fatigue. Not sure if treatment for other cancers varies though? X
I have a friend with cervical cancer who is starting radiotherapy and chemo this week. The chemo is not as harsh as FEC etc but she will then go on to have brachytherapy (radiation directly into the tumour via a probe) which sounds horrible!
Axx
I didn’t see it tonight, but have come home to a message from my daughter saying best not to watch it. I’m also seeing comment on FB tonight about oncy being decribed as something unpleasant.
I replied to my daughtee that i’s not seen it, but am so pleased that the character is getting her treatment so soon. I seem to have wasted 8 months, and i’ve not started rads yet!
Hi
I had my rads whilst having chemo . Was told couldn’t have rads with Epi as both can affect the heart but was on CMF when had rads as that one doesn’t??? Was glad really as shortened treatment by 3 weeks.
hi thanks all isnt it intreasting how dif hos do dif things and dif cancer have dif treatment least ive learnt something
I did read an article last week or the week before in the mail, where they have been giving chemo and rads together as a trial on women with breast cancer and I think so far the results have been better than giving it separately, but obviously it is quite early to know. I think it was in Birmingham, but not 100 per cent sure. I am under the Marsden but haven’t heard if they are trying it there as I now have secondaries and my treatment for primary breast cancer was 2006.
Take care everyone
