I was diagnosed with Hormonal Breast Cancer last year but prior to that I was suffering from Arthritis, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, High Blood Pressure and I also had Stephen Johnson Syndrome about four years ago, contracted in Bangkok.
I am now on Arimidex for the cancer and the tablet is making the other problems much worse, so much so it is ruining my life, lack of mobility, lack of sleep, intense pains. I would like to know if there is anyone else with similar probelms and how they cope with them.
I now live in Southport in the UK and would like to know if there is anyone local to me.
Hi I also have arthritis and hbp. Had a new hip before bc. I am on Arimidex and if you look at the side effects blurb in with your meds you may find like me that muscle and joint pain ,insomnia ,ectare stated side effects with Arimidex and my bp meds. So the cumulative effects means you will just have to learn to tolerate them or stop taking the meds. Personnally I am going to keep taking the meds as they hopefully will keep me alive longer, Although some days I feel as if my body is 110 my head most days is still in my 30’s. I will be 63 in March. I live in Southampton so not near you sorry.
Good Luck and Hugs

I didn’t have anything else before bc apart from always getting colds so that was probably a rubbish immune system. Also had eczema but don’t count that !
I’m in Morecambe so not that far away really. Am 44 and was diagnosed in July 07 with hormonal bc stage 3 but then they found bone mets in spine and ribs and a load of lymph nodes were affected as well when they did a clearance at time of mx. I started off on tamoxifen but after about 7 months was changed to Zoladex and Arimidex and have all the side effects…some days I feel like twice my age but keep taking the pills to help keep me around for longer. I started a thread asking what helps people with arimidex side effects but haven’t seen replies so I’ll bump it up in a mo.There is another long one about arimidex side effects as well so have a read of it and I’m sure you’ll relate to info on there.
You are not alone and I think that personally as long as you see others with the same feelings , you feel better yourself even though none of us want to be here !
A lady I know who has rheumatoid arthritis was on Arimidex and it aggravated all her aches and pains, plus it gave her depression. The oncologist changed her to Tamoxifen and she is now a lot better and looking a lot brighter.
Thanks for that but i wouldent want to change as i am a big women to start with and i would pile the weight on with tamoxfin spunds very vane but its not a si am having trouble getting around as it is .
I don’t think that tamoxifen does pile on weight - unless you eat more when you take it, I lost weight when I was on it as I was told by my consultant that I would lose weight. that was enough to put me off my food.
