End of chemo

Hi, I finished my last chemo on the 15th April 2026. I was quite poorly for 10 days after then felt great for 10 days, like my normal self but now since Tuesday this week I’ve started to feel really nauseas, fatigued and have stomach cramps.

I was hoping the side effects from chemo would be gone as they were last week but this week they seem to have come back with a vengeance.

Is this normal? Should I contact the treatment helpline at Velindre or should I go to my GP?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

I would call your team at the Velindre. They will be able to advise whether this reaction is normal or something that needs to be treated.

I hope you are able to get sorted quickly.

Definitely check in with your team. The impact of chemo can last some time. I am still overwhelmingly knackered a lot of the time and my stomach isn’t as easy to deal with as it once was, but even so it is important to check in. If nothing else, they may be able to give you something to ease the symptoms. x

I was treated at Velindre and if I was you I would call the helpline. If I remember they still monitor you for 6 weeks post chemo. Better to be safe than sorry.

The BCN nurses don’t return until 9am Monday and there is no guarantee of a response on Monday. Velindre is 24/7.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi @ER1990 ,

Thank you for your post.

It sounds like you are having a difficult time following the end of your chemotherapy and wondering whether the symptoms you are experiencing are due to side effects of treatment and whether they are a normal reaction.

It is best to contact your treatment helpline as @Jaygo suggests which hopefully you have done and you are beginning to feel a bit better.
