Hello everyone!
Just approaching the 5 years from dx point (July) Of course, I’ve found things to worry about, and I know one of you will have some ideas!
I was diagnosed in July, but didn’t start Tamoxifen until chem etc was finished, which was the following February. Do you think I’ll come off it in July, fingers crossed, of course) which would be 4 1/2 years, or do the full 5?
2.When I do come off it (fingers again) will I feel better? Am having all the usual stuff - the tummy, the fatigue etc.
This is trivial stuff, I know - but thanks for listening to me wittering on.
Love to you all; what would we do without one another?
I’m not sure Jillie, but I think you go the full 5yrs on Tamoxifen, of course your onc., may decide to put you on another inhibator for a while either at 41/2 yrs or 5yrs…i;'m just going on what I was told when I went for my check up last month,
i was dx in jan 04, started Tamoxifen in May 04, have apt., with onc., for May next year.
Its definetly not trivial stuff and your definetly not wittering…I actually feel quite nervous about all this, especially as BCN said I will be at risk again after finishing Tamoxifen…[or more at risk]…
I’m coming up 3 years, but a friend of a friend who I met was swapped over to Arimidex after 4years or so, 'cos you can stay on it longer (quote)…I’m quite pleased about that, I always thought that it would be like whipping away a crutch when they stop prescribing it, whereas I feel pretty confident while I’m on it that BC won’t come back (apart from the odd neurotic panic of course)
I went to see my Onc a few weeks ago and we talked about what will happen after my 5 years of Tamoxifen which is April next year. He said that he would like me to go on Armidex for 3 years as tests have proved that this would be beneficial. I am pleased with this as I would rather have that bit of added “insurance”.
