English threads t shirt issue

Hi All,

I have read all the threads regarding this t shirt. I am not good at using fb but given all the “positive” posts from english threads and BBC I have decided to email Suzi Perry to see if she knows and understands how the majority of us suffering from BC feel. Maybe if she begins to know and understanfd the depth of feeling from us all she may well begin to think it would be appropriate for her to"pull" her endorsement of the product.
Maybe if sufficient emails are sent to her it may bring some positive action. We can always hope!

The issue is going to be covered on The Wright Stuff tmrw morning. Please everybody phone in with your comments to show just how disgusted and betrayed we feel.

God bless social networking, praise be to campaigning virals.

Excellent - well done! I’d certainly phone in but I’ll be at rads :frowning:

However, I’d once again like to say it’s not the t-shirt as such, it’s that it’s to raise awareness of breast cancer and that is what is offensive to those of us with BC.
I like cheeky t-shirts, don’t have a problem with that.

Hi Ladies,

I have had a reply from my contacting Suzi Perry. Please see below, hopefully the t shirt will disappear from their screen soon.

Hello Maggie, As I am sure you will appreciate, my intentions in wearing the t-shirt wereentirely honourable. I have friends who have battled breast cancer andindeed I had a nasty scare a couple of years ago so I felt that this was agood way of raising much needed funds for breast cancer awareness andresearch for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. There has been a great deal of positive feedback but rather than upset andhurt any ladies who have been through so much, I will be withdrawing mypicture from English Threads as soon as I get back to the UK. Please accept my sincere apologies and my best wishes to you
Suzi

Now all we have to do is wait.

Maggie xx

Ah well done and thank you to Suzi Perry being brave enough to consider the impact of this and understand the issues

Oh, what happened there lol.

This morning: Should union bosses be threatening civil disobedience just a month after the riots? Also, your thoughts on the breast cancer t shirt that features a pair of great tits on the front that’s got survivors in a flap. And why on earth does Nancy Dell’Olio deserve a place on Strictly? It’s The Wright Stuff.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer:

Over the weekend it has become very apparent that the English Threads fundraising tee-shirt has created a great deal of upset and anger. As such we have spoken with the company today asking them to remove the association with Breakthrough from this product.

We would like to unreservedly apologise for any upset this fundraising initiative has created. The opportunity arose from the company wanting to help us raise funds in our fight against breast cancer and was motivated by their very personal connection with the disease. We accept on this occasion we made the wrong decision and we would like to reassure all of our supporters that we will act on any lessons that can be learnt.

much likey

Good News - LIKE!

Great news. Im sure the upcoming feature on the wright stuff has had nothing to do with BBC’s decision this morning…!!!

Liking it muchly too.

Just maybe Breakthrough and English Threads could find a more suitable teeshirt IF they are really serious about wanting to support the cause…? Some of their tee-shirts are actually pretty innocuous, to my eyes anyway.

Good move Breakthrough although like Gingerbud I can’t help thinking they made the ‘Wright’ decision just before ten fifteen this morning.
But heyho good…I’m liking too…Big thankyou to Bettina, Tors, Jan and others who brought this to the attention of the forums and the media…x

Its a team effort, 100 voices shout louder than 1. Thanks to everyone who took the time to write on this forum, FB and twitter and emailing the Company and Breakthrough.
And now, everyone, laugh, as apparently it’s the new cure! (Wouldnt ditch my tamoxifen just now though!!)
Bettina
