I have recently had a chat with my oncologist who stated that as i am a 2 on the scale for er + they will be treating me as TN… This is not what they have been telling me for the last 6 months - i have just finished my chemo. Originally fec-t but changed to fec as i had an allergic reaction to the tax.
I had been told that i would have chemo, no rads and tamoxifen for 5 years. Now i have done the chemo, they want me to have rads and dont want me to have the tamoxifen. Say the 2 result is too weak.
I am just wondering if there are any ladies out there who are er+ 2 who are taking tamoxifen as i have heard that oncologist disagree on this point?
My tumour was er+3 and I’m taking tamoxifen. Know its not quite the same but thought I would share my experience.
Initially I was told I was triple negative and wouldn’t have any hormone treatment but then after radiotherapy my oncologist seemed to change her mind and recommended tamoxifen. After questionning her about this at length (I was very negative about taking tamoxifen!) she said is was due to my age (31 at the time)and that she would try me on it and if I didn’t have any side-effects then I should stay on it but if I did then it probably wasn’t worth perservering with it. I’ve been taking it now for about three months and no side-effects far. She also said different onocologists would have different opinions about giving me tamoxifen. Maybe its worth asking for a second opinion?
Hope this helps, Jac
