Hi Sharon and Helen, am thinking maybe im getting cellulitis, so might start my energency stash of antibios the weather has changed and i dont serm to deal with sudden changes in temp.
hope you are both feeling ok? Its a bit unnerving how one can suddenly get infections isnt it?

Yes it is… my arm is quite swollen at the mo too. Am hanging on for the time being. Had my Erib today, no steroids… see how the emotional thing pans out and hoping I won’t suddenly get nausea

Hi moijan and Helen.dont seem mental but I dont feel well.i can’t believe I’m up there Friday.I’m not even back on my feet yet…where they drained me feels like been kicked by a horse and Is bruised.im eating better and not being sick.but devoid of any energy stairs are getting to me.xx

winter weather can be quite depressing.
including Helen too here…my arm is painful and swollen…also have yet another urine infection…
my gps were booked up for a week and so i dropped a sample at the hosp…staff nurse tested and found white cells so its gone off for culture…
problem im facing is…should i start my antibios…(need my arm for ringing bells on Sunday) but not sure that the antibio will tackle urine inf, so will ring gp tomorrow as an emergency, and ask if i can be seen. Also need to have blood done too, so another trip to hosp…hey ho.
lets go with the flow…at least with the ‘sponge’

Yes, Sharon, I agree, you are spot on, but im on a special protocol for my arm and i dont want to end up in hosp.

Hi Helen moijan.i still feel bad .im wondering if its the c or hopefully the chemo.I made a supreme effort today we went to see a west end touring show in Southend called lazy Sunday afternoons.it was a show about the kinks it was brilliant singing and acting…and very entertaining

sharon you were spot on about holding off re antibio. i started it and the registrar came back and said to go n another equally whammy, tough antibio…one which has a lot of possible side effects…im afraid, I was ever so reluctant yo have both! Anyway, the upshot is, i can finish my arm antibios, then send another urine sample…to see if the bug is still lurkng. Course, now…im worrying a bit about kidney infection which may not be picked up…dont want the bug to travel yo the kidneys as I need my kidneys!
have been takng sodium bicarb in water…very very dilute and the irritation has lessened…changes the ph of the urine and slows down the bug multiplication!

Hi moijan was bit better yesterday.maybe steroids.got myself to bed about eleven last night and could hardly get myself up the stairs.energy or blood cells drop from Fridays chemo…iv got past the sickness thing and am eating well.o weigh about eight stone so dont like to lose weight…glad youv found out the problem and hopefully it will clear itself up soon…love Sharon x?

Sharon, ive been a bad patient, because they thought i could take both antibios and I was thinking about how my gut might react…,anyway, the onc sent a message to say it was ok to finish my first antibio then drop in another specimen, so that ok.
i am so very pleased that you are feeling a bit better Sharon, re the weight, I almost said do the ‘Carolyn’ thingy and up the chocky, but I find too much chocky give me diarhoa so, maybe just eat what you really fance and gorge when you feel like it. Strangely ebough, i often fancy pigging myself on toast or cottage cheese, we all have our quirks! Have just this minute had a bowl of shredded wheat( bleberry version) with my antbios, along with my pind of diluted cranberry juice!

Helen no I had day eight last Fri…so its my time off.hoping to get myself more energy…had a bad day at oncologist today.she said if scan shows no improvement after three Il be taken off treatment and handed to palliative team…i feel down as I wasn’t prepared for that chat…she wants me to have third and then scan then said Il have had four by the time she gets scan results…really has shot me down.but as hubby said we dont know if its working yet so will have to pickup myself…,?
Sharon, phew that was a blow…was it the Consultant? do you think that you might be able to persuade her to let you have an extra one? I thought we had some choice as patients. You did write that you felt a little better?
anyway, lets pray hard that the scan shows its helping.
Helen is right, you can ask for a second opinion, maybe a different hospital is running some research trials that you could be eligble for.

It was the oncologist words.i wasn’t expecting this thought I was just going for a pep talk…iv had two cycles ie four injections as you know…i will be having three then a scan…by the time scan results get read I will have had four…she really downed me as I feel its all pointless.i struggle to have chemo mentally as it is…councelling wont help me…but I think I will ask for a second opinion…as I didn’t expect this talk till after scan.xsharon,?
Hi Sharon, yes…she doesnt seem to be good at people skills…and you are still( like me) very young! I would have expected her to wait till after the scan results anyway, why shoot you in the foot before anyone knows the result!,
you could try for a second opinion at the marsden…it is further away, but its likely worth it. Also there are lots of trials going on there.
I do understand about not feeling overjoyed about chemo and needing to psych onesself up, but not all chemos are the same and they seem to be doing more intensive study into dna these days.
i think that whatever you choose to do, try and keep open minded about the results, noone knows what effect its having till the scan results. …also are they doing chemo markers?
See if you can distract yourself from the oncs lack of skills/tact and travel hopefully for the time-being, noone knows yet and nothing has changed really since you started on Erib.

Hi Helen.im not too good either…i cant seem to walk much .i never had this before erubulin. I saw a specialist Dr …on weds…my stomachs swollen which is unbearable
She could see it and said you will have to be drained in about two weeks…discussed permanent drain procedure I agreed to it…apparently when the drain fluid it obviously helps instantaneously but take away lots of vitamins and minerals that the body needs.that explains why I always feel rotton for days…i went to the hospital today for bloods tests for Mondays chemo.
But iv just sat in Lounge had some visitors read the paper and took myself to bed at eight.not to sleep just change scenery will I ever get better this time…my ankle went dead the other days
And fingers come and go.I dont think this drug agrees with me…i dont even feel like wearing the coldcap anymore in fact I think iv gone mad…with all the what ifs.
Sorry about you news.its only a small bag medicine but powerful…
Now just thinking how can carry this big belly about…wait till Monday.I’m a right misery ?

Sorry to hear that both are feeling so poorly …don’t know what to say really as its obviously not a good chemo for you …you two are both such strong cookies and have done fantastic on other treatments so don’t let this get you down and keep focusing on nice things in life if you can.
