euphoria wearing off and huge swelling!

The euphoria of returning home safely from the op is wearing off! I was told to expect some swelling but been home for just under four hours and my breast has swollen to twice the size of the other one. Is this ok and to be expected? If yes, when should I expect it reduce a bit. Trying not to panic!

What did you have done?

Twice its size sounds like an awful lot.

I think you need to ring for advice straightaway.

I didn’t really have a huge amount of swelling, just a bit, and I still have a little, 3 weeks later. Why don’t you try and get hold of your breast care nurse, or ring the helpline here? It may well be within the scope of normal, but for peace of mind, it would be worth checking.

ok, not just great support on this site, but possibly life savers too! My hugely inflated breast was infact a large haematoma which they managed to remove after 2 hours of surgery at midnight last night. Thanks for all advice and to the BCC team.
Back home now after a truly terrifying 24hrs and feeling, well a bit less terrified but still really anxious it could happen again.
Hopefully I can manage more than a couple of hours at home tonight!
Any experience of this anyone?

No experience of twice the size but after WLE I gained infection that saw the breast swollen, hot, discoloured and very painful. Had mastectomy after results came in and was so happy with getting rid of the offending boob that they wondered about my sanity!

Wouldnt wish it on anyone and so pleased that your sorted now.

Good luck with all your treatment.
