I have been taking Tamoxifen for 6 months now & have noticed for the past couple of weeks my hair is shedding more than it normally does. Has anyone experienced this, did it stop & have you experimented with any vitamins, regaine, shampoos ect to try to stop it? Thanks. S xx
I think all the hormone therapy can use hair thinning. I’m on letrozole and have had a lot of hair shedding. I only wash hair once a week, avoid hair straighteners and hair colouring etc.
It should settle soon but I sympathise with you as I got quite distressed but after 20 months …get used to it.

I have accord brand marked on my.monthly prescription. .it’s the best of the bunch I tried. You just have to ask your doctor to authorise it as they chuck any other brand at you if you don’t ask.

Yes it was quite heavy shedding between 3 and 12 months but less now but I do treat it with respect these days! !!
Reading the threads generally …Accord does seem the better brand apart from the original one Femera.

It’s scary when you see the amount of hair going down the plug hole isn’t it? You are lucky you have thick hair and so you can spare a bit of shedding! My hairdresser says by only washing it once a week there will be more loose hair and I still have a good head of hair and I worry too much.
I’m 65 so maybe I would have lost some hair anyway after a lifetime of colouring and straightening it to a minute of its life!!
But I still blame letrozole but am putting up with it as I have secondaries and it’s kept the little blighters in my bones under control for nearly two years now.

I put my hair up when im out and have noticed the difference I used to only be able to put bobble twice around my hair now I can twist is around four times I have noticed a big increase in the amount of hair I have lost so has my hairdresser, I had really thick hair and now its quite thin and flyaway but if the tabs are doing their job and keeping the cancer at bay I can cope with the hair loss just struggling with the other side effects sore lady bits flushes and terrific joint pain and headaches that just come out of the blue and mood changes I wonder is changing from the brand im on to another one will help
What brand are you taking -some people really do notice a significant difference .

I took tamoxifen for two years …I had the original brand not a generic version …the only side effect I remember was hot flushes. .phew I was always mopping my face and forehead!
Hormones all come with side effects …I wee a lot and I’m told the bladder muscles get thinner with them …but I know this sounds weird but if I take a paracetamol at night …I’m fine without a pee trip .

To all you lovely ladies, I notice when I use L’Oreal triple resist shampoo & conditioner the hair shedding is a lot less. Could be worth a try. S xx
