I went for my 6 month check up yesterday - all is well on the BC front thank goodness! I am taking Tamoxifen and in spite of eating sensibly and exercising as much as I can with creaky hips and knees, my weight is creeping up - I’ve put on 6lbs since my last checkup. Not a lot I know, but that’s nearly a stone a year and I’m already 3 stone heavier than I was when I was diagnosed. I asked what else I could do about the weight gain and was told not to worry - if I put on a lot more something would be done.
So it appears that I have to wait until I’m another 3 stone - or 4 or 5 - overweight before something is done! I thought excess weght in ladies of a certain age was one of the risk factors for BC - has anyone else come up against this attitude? If so, how huge do you have to get before ‘something is done’?
I have put nearly three stone on too and am only on Tamoxifen now. The only thing to help me lose weight is to go to 500 cals a day and that was because I had a migrain and couldnt eat. I now make home made soups with veg and chicken and that works too. The weight is coming off slowly - I walk every day and dont eat bread - never have - or choc or too much fruit because of acid. Its trial and error. Soup, poached eggs, chinese soup is great because you can add an egg and dont eat after 7pm.
Its different for everyone but I do hope you find your happy medium and the weight gain is terrible when you have a very good wardrobe of clothes that no longer fit!
Dont give up trying to find what suits you will get there.
Good luck
