Exercise after reconstruction

I had a pedicled tram flap reconstruction two months ago. Bit of a problem with some necrosis but all ok now and i’m pleased with my new breast. However, getting frustrated at still not being able to do much without my stomach feeling very tight and uncomfortable. Can anyone let me know if there is any exercise that they found useful? I’m walking upright now and I love swimming but even that feels wrong at the moment so find I am just wallowing around in the pool like a hippo!
Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Val,

This has been hanging around for a while now, but did you get any response? Hopefully you are already feeling better and fitter and you tummy is less tight.

I had DIEP (free TRAM) in July and have found that my tummy is feeling pretty much ok now - occassionally a bit ‘weird’ and still a little numb. I just did the post-op exercises that the physio gave me for post breast surgery so nothing was specifically for the abdomen. I found that those exercises with sticks and weights that required me stretching my arms above my head initially help my abdomen too - really simply just holding a light weight stick with both hands while lying on my bed, lifting and stretching it overhead and holding for count of 30 … arms beyond the edge of the bed.

I think that it is easier to get back to walking upright with a free TRAM than pedicled.
