Exercise and constipation

Hi all

Following my recent arm issues etc I decided that I had to pull myself together and have been doing my stretching exercises properly. I am supposed to do these daily - I haven’t done them since just before DX. Although they are for my back they involve stretching all the major muscle groups in the body - it takes about 20 minutes.

Well - an unexpected side- effect is that the are definitely helping my digestive system.

Suggest that anyone who is consipated has a go … it’s got to be worth a try.

What kind of excersices? I haven’t ‘been’ for 9 days. I’ve tried diffrent laxitives and even drank a litre of prune juice - still nothing. I really don’t want to end up in the hospital so i’ll try anything.

If you haven’t been able to get up and about for a while walking should really help to shift things.

thanks- i’ve been to the loo but it was diahorrea, i was stuck for about half an hour. I did last night drink a litre of prune juice. i think i’l wait until tomorrow to see if a walk will be safe ; D

These are stretching exercises - they are what I do … you might do yourself some damage so if you are going to do them so I suggest that you get a trained gym professional to help you …

you have to relax throughout - and gently sretch your muscles - no bouncing etc - and no overdoing it

sorry about typos - am pooped

sit on dining chair and roll shoulders forwards slowly a lot and then back slowly a lot

loo to the the right and roll chin gently round on chest until looking to the left - back the other way

do a few times slowly and stretching

then look as far as you can over each shoulder while keeping body facing forward

still on dining chair lift you nknee to chest and then pull over in direction of opposite armpit

do with other leg

repeat a few times

on the floor - cushion under knee

get down on one knee and put other foor in front of you and stretch the groin area

keep your body as straigt as you can

repeat other leg

lie on front on floor and pull up leg behind you (i can just about grab my shoe) and aim to put heel on buttock

repeat other leg

get on hands a knees

keeping hands on the floor sit on heels and try and get body close to the floor

then move back so weight even over hands and knees and curl spine up and then release

stand up feet apart and stertch one arm over head

then do same with other

lie on floor and put foot over other knee and pul leg up

same other leg

knoee on floor on cushioon - other leg straight out and bed forward

repeat pther leg

oh my god. you a contortionist. now theres a word for words in words!!!
i do the neck ones, but sounds too much like hard work for the others.

sit on floor - soles of feet together and push knees gently down

lie on floor and hug both knees to chest

hands on hips and bend sie to side

fingertips on shoulders and move elbows round in circles - front ways and back ways
