Expander implant recovery

I had a masectomy in Sept 14 with implant recon, unfortunately it got infected so was removed in December. I finished FEC-T in April and am booked to have an expander implant around 20th May. I will then need 15 sessions of radiotherapy.

 

Just wondered what other peoples’ experience is of expander implant surgery, recovery time, when did you drive, how long did you wait for expansion? Also has any one then gone on to have rads and how did that go?

I had my tissue expanders inserted during db mx. The right one took but I had the left one out in Jan due to repeated infection. It was at least 9 weeks before I drove again as I had numerous issues on the left. I think you should be ok around the 3 week mark for just tissue expander. That was about the time I waited after removal!
