expander valves!!
expander valves!! I had a double expander fitted 6 weeks ago but one valves has flipped and they have had to operate to turn it. The otherside has half turned and it is proving very difficult to get the needle in to inflate. They keep telling me that this is unusual but I am worried that they will keep turning and another op will be required, which of course increases the risk of infection. Any one had a similar problem or got any tips?? the valves are both fitted under my arms.
Moving expander Hi Louisejayne, I had a mastectomy and an expander inserted last October. They finished ‘inflating’ me a couple of months ago, and I have got a date for the next op early August. Recently I have noticed a bulge over my implant which I can push in and it clicks back out again. My consultant said it had rotated a bit, but since I last saw her I am sure it has moved again. As they don’t need to inject any more fluid through the valve I suppose it doesn’t matter that much in my case, but it makes you wonder why ours have moved and others haven’t. Perhaps I have been too active. I have been swimming and gardening and carrying on as normal.
I hope yours have settled now. Perhaps they will be more stable when they have more fluid in them. Take care

Thanks Heidicat, I am wondering if I have probably been too active too, I am trying to take it steady avoiding stretching and twisting and laying on my side! its hard though when you are a busy person, I too enjoy swimming gardening etc but will refrain from such activities until inflation is finished!!
Good luck with the rest of your surgery…

expander Hi i had a flexible implant last november and have finished having my implant inflated i go back to my consultant on 8th may hopefully for him to discuss removing my valve and i wll be having reduction on my other side as my right breast is a lot bigger i cant seem to find any info on the reduction so i dont know what to expect. I am very happy with my reconstruction but at times it feels a bit uncomfortable if i overstretch if i take it easy its ok and i have been back at work since feb
