Experiences of low dose anti-depressants for hot flushes?

That’s great news RoadRunner, I’m so glad it’s made a difference!

I am now almost entirely hot flush free - it’s improved more and more the longer I’ve been on Citalopram.

i on citalopram, 20mg

im hoping it works, i also find ice lollys do the trick lol

Hi all,

I’ve been on a low dose of amitriptyline for a few months - 10mg to help me sleep. I still have my moments but generally sleep much better than I used to. NB for those on steroids: I couldn’t take them then, the two didn’t seem to react well together.
Regarding hot flushes though, I’ve had them for about 7 years - they drive me mad. Amitriptyline hasn’t lessened them but Arimidex has made them worse!

Cooling thoughts to you all. Stella xx

I have just come off low dose anti depressants which I took for low level headaches BC.I think it helped a bit with the flushes but my mainstays are only having one cup of caffeine a day and taking a sage table in the evening (Menoforce brand).
You can always try the anti deps for a few months and then stop if they’re not doing any good. Let’s face it, we’d try anything i guess to get a good night’s sleep!
