Does anyone know how long after treatment (chemo) should you wait to have an eye test. I was due for one just before dx in Jan 07 but didn’t get round to it with everything going on. My sight has got worse through chemo which finished 2 weeks ago.
Didn’t realise you had to wait for an eye test, I should have had one last year but didn’t get round to it. I could really do with one as I am really struggling now with some small print. Then again … it might be my age !!!
I had an eye test during chemo, my optician told me it was ok with chemo but did say that if I was on tamoxifen would make a difference, not sure exactly what he meant by that though.
The specialist nurses in our ‘Ask the Nurse’ team will be able to help you with your query, you can access this through the ‘Support for you’ tab at the top of this page, you can email in and the team will reply with information and advice. Had my eyes tested in January, but about 2 months ago I felt that I had to wear my reading glasses all the time at work (started Tamoxifen sometime in April/May).
The optician was suprised that my prescription had changed that much so quickly, but I am 46 and your eyes do change in your forties. I told him about my Tamoxifen and he checked the backs of my eyes and everything was fine. He felt the changes were age-related, but I felt better having a full test. I’d get an eye test if you’re concerned, just for peace of mind if nothing else…
