Eyebrow Tatooing?

Hi,

Has anyone had their eyebrows tatooed before they fell out?

Thanks,
Liz

Hi,
I was too worried about eyebrow tatoos in case they went wrong and then id be stuck with then , but did find a website called wigs and pieces which does semi permanent eyebrow tattoos that last for about 5 days , i bought some and they were realy good ,you get 10 pairs per pack and were not expensive ,about 4 pounds per pack i think. They have lots of shapes/colours ect and is a good alternative if you are worried about haveing permanent tattoos.
Hope this helps

A friend of mine, who sometimes comes on this site as well, had her eyebrows tattooed a few weeks ago (after chemo) and they look really natural and if she hadn’t told me I wouldn’t have known that they weren’t real.

I would imagine it depends on the person doing the tattoo and what shape you want them?

Hi Liz - I found that my eyelashes and eyebrows hung on throughout my FEC, and really only started falling out when I had the taxotere. To be honest it was probably literally a few days that I had no eyebrows at all (although they were certainly thin for a while). 6 weeks after lst taxotere a grey shadow appeared, and a few days later eyebrows and eyelashes started putting in an appearance again. (Sticking out all over the places, but hey, they’re new to the world). I managed with an eyebrow pencil and don’t think anyone ever really noticed that my natural brows had gone. Hope this helps a bit and let us know what you decide. Good luck. Sarah.

Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for the tips.

I went to see a lovely girl in Benefit Ealing today and purchased the Browzing kit and a brown eyeliner that she demo-ed for me. Also managed to buy a blusher!

It’s 10% off Benefit at the moment if you buy Glamour - and you get a free lip gloss from them too!

Hi -

I went on a ‘Look good…feel better’ day at our local Macmillan Centre. It was great fun - 12 of us where given a huge bag of full size top quality cosmetics and given a make-up lesson by a beauty therapist. One of the things covered was how to draw in realistic looking eyebrows using the pencil in your kit. We had a good laugh and all left looking gorgeous.

These sessions are run across the country at most of the major hospital and are totally free. I can’t recommend them enough for a real lift.

Good luck with your treatment - it does come to a end

The Maggie Centres across the country do an excellent services on this again you giving famous brand cosmetics and perfume and advice on their usage was great day and I would estimate the value of the cosmetics and perfume to be around £200 so I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff there really boosted me.

I’ve got a wig with a fringe and my eyebrows are very sparse and random so I draw them in with a pencil. Saw a mate on Weds, and she said, ‘Oh, I see you still have your eyebrows…’ which made me laugh.

Jacqui, thanks for reminding us about those sessions. I really fancy that. Really must book before the kids break up from school.

Hi Lizfawn
I had my eyebrows tatooed as they were starting to get a little sparse on the fec, totally lost them on tax, I would definately recommend it, they are brilliant

sarndee!!!there you are.I have been wondering how you were.Where did you get eyebrows tattooed?I still only have odd hairs after over a year.Did it hurt?

hiya
Really worried about my eyebrows more than my hair as thats when I think you look ill but touch wood still hanging in after 2nd FEC. I thought it might not be a good idea to have tatooing done whilst on chemo but I could be totally wrong!!

Good luck
xx

Hey all,

I think there might be an issue with conventional tattoos - they have iron oxide in the pigment which can block an MRI if you need one. But semi-permanents should be ok (although check for yourself first!) Thinking of having it done myself - can cope with missing head hair no probs, but miss my eyebrows!

My eyebrows were the only bit of hair that didn’t come out - I am now post chemo, and my hair is coming back (very slowly) everywhere else, byt my eyebrows have stayed put throughout all the treatment. It this unusual?

Anne

Anne - I have still got my hair (did lose some) and didn’t lose my eyebrows at all and about half my eyelashes love FB xx

My eyebrows are just starting to fall out now during 2ned cycle of xeloda. I though I had got away with it !!

Hi Horace (Val)
I’ve not been very active recently due to the taxotere side effects, picking up a bit now and chemo now finished,
I had my eyebrows tatooed in Imagine Me, in Newport (Shrops) these are not conventional tatooes so no oxide in them all natural products, they will gradually fade in about 18-24 months.
It wasn’t painful and they do put a local anaethestic cream on first to dull any pain, but hey if we’re on here we are all used to needles and a bit of discomfort anyway so what’s a little bit more pain for vanity !
Cheers
