Facial rash on Herceptin

Hi there,
Yes pleased to report face is much better. Still using Aveeno. ?
It does seem like it was the chemo se . I am finding my skin on legs and arms itch like mad after a shower . It lasts about 1/2 hour . I do moisturise but it makes no difference. Not sure what else to try.
Also my nails have started to come off (so lovely) and my legs feet and hands ache.
My hair is slowly growing in white and grey with bald patches at crown.
Hot flushes are still happening but not anything as bad as thy were. So hopefully will continue to improve.
My blood pressure has been up the last few times I have had my herceptin too, so keeping a note of the readings for now.
Due herceptin 7 next week. Also on tamoxifen.
Glad to hear your face has been better. ?

Good to hear your face rash is better now, Vintage. I get itchy arms and legs as well, which is I think in part due to hair growing back. E45 Itch Relief cream has helped.

I am having to use aqueous cream only on my chest and arms at the moment though because I started radiotherapy on Monday, and so far it has been OK. It doesn’t seem to be making the itching or the eczema any worse. I was worried about skin problems before I started, but they are checking daily so it is good to know they are monitoring.

My hair is coming back greyer than it was before. It’s growing at normal rate now (which for me is fast!). It’s now nearly an inch long and there is pretty even coverage all over except for at the temples where it is a bit thinner. But I think I will be able to dump the wig in time for my birthday in May!

Sorry to hear your nails are coming off. It’s strange that they seem to get worse after the chemotherapy finishes. I have managed to hang onto mine. They went dry, ridged and a bit discoloured, but I have kept oiling them at least twice a day (fingernails and toenails). I also kept clipping them to cut off as much of the grotty bits as possible, and I can now see signs of improvement.

I have aches and pains as well from time to time, but not severe - I don’t bother with any painkillers. Yours could be Tamoxifen. I haven’t started Letrozole yet (waiting until after radiotherapy), so I’m not sure whether mine is Herceptin or just age! I have kept up the exercises, and I think it helps.

I suppose this is the new ‘normal’ so we’d better get used to it! All the best and hope your nails, hair and pains improve soon.
