BC Living Day courses Gosh, wish I lived up in the North West! I live down in the depths of Cornwall, go to a hospital in Plymouth, and have never had any info on any of these courses, which I would love to attend. I live in South East Cornwall, which is called “The Forgotten Corner” evidenced by a local book. I feel very isolated here and wish BCC would do some projects for us… I don’t even know anyone with breast cancer here. The ladies in my bc ward when I had my two surgeries came from Devon and we are too far away to have any physical contact… I need a ferry boat to get to Devon. Hopefully one day BCC will think about us.
Liz…in hope.
Lizz
BCC will pay for you to attend a course and stay at a hotel if you ask them, so look on this site to see where the courses are.

Dear Liz Thankyou for your post regarding services in your area. We will forward your comments to the relevant Manager responsible for the setting up of services in the area where you live, so keep watching the site for further information about courses nearer to you. You will find information about forthcoming courses under the ‘Support for you’ tab on the homepage under ‘Support days and activities’.
Please also feel free to use our other services in the meantime, such as our Live Chat service whereby you are able to chat for an hour each Thursday evening between 9pm and 10pm to others affected by breast cancer.
I do hope you find this information helpful.
Kind regards

Living With Breast Cancer courses Thank you Liverbird and Moderator for your replies. I have looked at the venues for this year, but none are even remotely near me. Surprised to see there is even a course up in the Hebrides. They do say civilisation stops at Bristol! I’ll keep looking, especially as Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, where I am being treated, is a bc centre of excellence.
Thanks again for the info.
Liz
HI Just thought I’d say hello as I live down inPlymouth , fairly close to you. What a lovely place to live.
I was reading through your posts and getting to know you, when I cam across the one on new years day, where your thoughts turned to your twin brother who died 10 years ago.
I lost my brother to concer in December 04, and like you can only think about him on New Years Eve. The following year November 05 I lost my dad to cancer. In amongst all that I have been dealing with my own illness.
I have seen in the past that there have been Healthy Living days in Exeter. I go the BC support group at Derriford. Its this Wednesday coming, and then every 1st Wednesday of the month. It alternates between the afternoon and the evening. Its the evening this week.
Any chance of you making it?
Bc support Hi withthe helpof friends,
So very pleased to “meet” someone down here in the South West that I can relate to - my Dad also died of cancer, at 59 yrs old, and what with my twin brother dying of a brain tumour at 50, does make me wonder about my genes - local doc said I was dealt a bad hand when I was born, think he was right, but nothing I can do about that except to accept my problems and still have a zest for life.
I don’t like to drive, after 8 years living in Spain when we had only one new car and my husband didn’t like me to drive it.; although I now have an ageing 14 yr old Renault Clio which gets me to the local village for emergency groceries, chemist, doc and hairdresser. My husband, a gorgeous 78 yr old guy, drives us (in his new Passat) into Plymouth for hospital appointments, a weekly eating out and good food shopping. Otherwise, I have to take the Cremyll ferry into Plymouth and it doesn’t go in the evenings in the winter.
When the weather gets better (had horrendous storms here recently which have wrecked our western walkway and jetty) could we meet up in Plymouth for a coffee and a chat?
Gosh, since they stopped private e-mails, don’t don’t know how to contact you. Are you on the “other site”? perhaps I can get in touch with you there?
Love, Liz
