Many of you had met Deirdre. I heard from Tony (OH) that she passed away last Sunday. The Funeral will be on the 11th Dec and if any of you want the details please pm me. I don’t know if any of you followed her blog but I felt this so much summed her up.
…
"But there is no set age for death. People die when they die, not too early and not too late. They achieve what they are going to achieve in the years that they have. We should not mourn the years they did not have, nor the things they did not achieve. We should celebrate the years we shared with them, and recognise that they did what they did, and that it was enough. And in any case, if I believe that Jesus is waiting for me with arms open when I die, (and I do), why should anyone feel angry or robbed when our time comes?
So when my time comes, I want people to know this. I did not die early. Or too soon. I died on time - a concept which I know my husband and family will laugh at because I am NEVER on time for anything. But maybe, even in dying, there is a first time for everything?"
Oh, I’m so terribly sorry to hear of Deirdre’s passing and would like to extend my sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones.
I only met her once at the little gathering in London in June/July. She was so different to how I’d imagined from her little troll avatar, thoroughly charismatic and I just wish we could all have been in better health to meet up again.
Thanks Dawn for pasting the serene excerpts from her blog. I didn’t know she had one but will be checking it out.
I am very sad to hear this news and my thoughts are with Deirdre’s family and friends. I was incredibly moved by her blog which as Belinda said, was beautifully written.
RIP Deirdre
Very sad to hear this news. I remember Deirdre sending me poasts about Avastin when I was to go on it and remembber her well on the other site. Her words from her blog on this thread are inspirational and extremely wise and I’ll be looking at her blog in more detail.
Rest in peace, Deirdre and my heart goes out to her family. Anne xx
