Fat Lip

Well…with all the ulcers I have I now look like I have done some boxing…I have a big fat lip…OUCH! So now I am a lop-sided, bald boxer…LOL

Bonjela! Ouch, but it works my love.

I have been prescribed Oraldene, get 4 bottles every time go to chemo session and so far so good - might be worth a try. I use 4 times a day, just done it again actually, quite nice too.

Sorry your mouth is so sore. You should speak to your chemo nurses and see if there is anything else that they can give you too.

Take care

Hi Babyboo,

Luckily ulcers are the one side effect I seem to have avoided, apart from a single one on my first chemo and a single one on the third session, which was the size of the Grand Canyon and unbeleivably sore. It kept sticking to my teeth and I couldn’t eat - you know the drill. Tomato Risotto and mouth ulcers are a bad combo, trust me.

Anyway, I happened to have taken one of my children to the doctors while I had this ulcer and she prescribed Adcortyl in Orabase and IT IS THE BUSINESS! Its a presciption only steroid paste and seriously, this is the stuff you want. It cleared the ulcer up almost immediately and doesn’t sting at all when you put it on. Left me wishing I had toddled off to the GP at least a week earlier.

Hi babyboo,

sorry to hear of your poorly mouth! Thankfully that seems to be one side effect that I have managed to avoid (so far anyway!). I was wondering if you can get a drug called ‘calcium folinate’ in Sweden? I am given this to take away each time I have chemo. I start it 24 hours after each treatment and take it for 6 doses. It definately seems to work for me! Perhaps you can ask the nurses where you have your chemo about it.

I’ll definately second what Jan says though. When I used to suffer with mouth ulcers I got some Adcortyl in Orabase and it really IS the business!! Try and get hold of that if you can get it cause its awesome,

Take care and I hope your sore mouth gets better v.soon,

Kelly
