February 2026 chemo starters

sorry to hear that- they are so painful!

I’ve bought myself a hot water bottle for next time hoping that will help.

So my husband has man-flu :joy:. And oh my god I have no patience for him.

For months I’ve hardly moaned and soldiered on. He’s had a cold for a day and he’s done nothing but moan. You’d think he was at deaths door :joy: men are the worst when they’re ill.

Paclitaxel 6 of 9 complete! The finish line is getting closer. My potassium levels are low this week so I have some supplements to take & repeat bloods needed on Saturday. May need an infusion if they are still low. This explains why I’ve been super tired in the evenings, even on chill out days.

i use buscopan and antihistamine to lessen the effects

@vizsla_mum this has made me laugh. My husband was the same about 2 weeks ago with the worst cough and he literally couldn’t make it out of bed, I caught the same thing (from him!) and was over it in about 3 days.

I haven’t been on here for a while. Just now catching up. Congratulations to those of you who’ve finished chemo! It’s such an achievement!

Yes I’ve got low Haemoglobin and fatigue is now worse. As I’ve got ME and usually I can walk around the house and garden, but need a scooter or powered wheelchair to go further, plus always 3 or 4 rests a day, obviously I’ve gone further down. But at least I’ve got the powered chair and I’m used to managing the energy. Steroids have helped so that I have still just about been able to get my own food if I prep it on better days. It’s been good to use the powered chair to get into the garden with my factor50 and my sun hat! I arrange a friend to visit socially distanced in the garden for an hour.

I’ve been socially distancing since I caught infections the first two weeks of chemo, and now I’ve done 12 session and only missed one week so I’m really pleased. I’m sure that the cocoa tips from @sam1204 have helped!

The neuropathy is bad, and the taste changes, but I’m so glad the nausea after the Carboplatin has stopped.

I feel very fortunate that my new partner (we’d only been together 2.5 months before my diagnosis) is supporting me so well. It’s certainly a different start for a relationship, but I think it shows what a caring and loyal man he is. He comes to stay a couple of days a week, and I try to choose my best days.

I’ve got an ultrasound on Monday and then a phone call with consultant Thursday. That’s when I find out if any more chemo needed before surgery. I’ve been on Taxol, Pembro and Carboplatin. If I have more it will be EC!!! Which I really don’t want after hearing how awful it is!! There’s a strong chance I won’t need it as my last ultrasound results showed a good shrinkage of tumours. So keeping everything crossed:crossed_fingers:

Oooh holidays! I love cruises! My annual insurance ran out after my diagnosis (Jan diagnosis and Feb insurance due) so I’d got two cruises booked this year with no insurance! They had been booked two years before the cruise date as that’s how I can get an accessible cabin. I was able to transfer my May cruise to one in June 2027. Soon I’ll need to transfer my November one. I’ve got a local holiday booked in September so I’m hoping I’ll manage that one.

Onward and upward and well done to us all! We’re very strong!:flexed_biceps:

Hey everyone I’m just popping over from the March thread to see if anybody has any tips on easing the mouth soreness on docetaxel!? My mouth and throat feels like sandpaper! I’ve got the bright green mouth wash but open to any other ideas!

Also the deep bone aching!? Any tips to help that I feel like my ribs are bruised and every bone in my body is aching  no nausea though which is lovely after 3 x EC chemos! Xxxx

Hi Katie, I didn’t have the mouth effects but did have the bone ache with dose dense paclitaxel. I found it actually got less sore with the each round which is odd - however that may be because I am now taking fexofenadine, a strong antihistamine for my itchy hands and feet - and I wonder if that has done something. This round I’ve barely needed paracetokol whereas the earlier ones I was taking that and ibuprofen and hugging my hot water bottle - hope yours eases soon

That’s good to know, hopefully I follow suit!!
I found my 1st EC the worst and each cycle got a little bit easier, maybe because we know what to expect? Whereas the 1st time just feels never ending

Morning everyone

Been lovely to read about those of you finishing this stage of treatment , this bit done :two_hearts:

With my delays I’ve been a bit downbeat and not engaging much - I’m only 1/2 way through - due to start my 1st of 3 Docetaxel today - I had my blood test Friday so not actually got my bloods confirmed (persistent low neurtrophils but had filgastrim this cycle :crossed_fingers:t2:) but I’ve had all the extra steroids they’ve given me so wired & anxious this morning !

Hope it goes well today. It feels endless while you’re in the thick of it but the finish line will be here before you know it.

The steroid sadness also makes everything worse, they should give you more warnings about that!
