Hiya I had my first fec last wed, felt sickly for a few days now just sore gums and not much taste. Do symptoms change from chemo session to session or do you get same symptoms each session. Sorry if it doesn’t make much sense, lol thanks xxxx rachel xxxx

In summary I would say similar, so it’s a good idea to keep a diary of your symptoms so you know what to expect next time.
In my case the se’s were the same for each fec, however I learnt from a couple of girls in my group that if you drank 2-3 litres of water the day before, the day of and the day after chemo it really helps with the nausea.
The good news is that you don’t usually feel sick with T
I had terrible aching with T about 4 days after chemo, complained to my onc and he prescribed a steroid tail! Absolute miracle, I felt fine for the last 2 cycles as far as the aches go but I suffered terribly from oral thrush which started with 1st tax, went away came back worse 2nd tax just about cleared for 3rd tax then came back terrible took weeks to get rid of it.
But that’s just me, you’ll get bored of hearing this but everyone is different.
Good luck x
Thank you for your reply xx I’ll try the water thing next fec. ![]()
Hi everyone, I am due my 2nd FEC on Thursday. I’m have 3 x FEC and 3 x T. I too got told about the tip of drinking water and it definitely appeared to help, only felt a bit sick for a couple of days and had a couple of days when I needed a few naps through the day but so far that’s it.
I was also advised to sip water and chew gum regularly throughout the cycles to help increase saliva and reduce mouth sores so this may help?
I should have flown to Spain this morning with the hubby and 2 kids which we had to cancel as I started chemo within a couple of weeks of diagnosis so feeling a bit down today, however I have been surprise at how ‘normally’ everything has carried in since I was told, think havin to look after the children probably helps with this.
I am having surgery post chemo so still a long road ahead but am staying positive and I definitely think the anxiety of chemo was worse than the actual thing itself, although it’s not a pleasant experience it was no where near as scary as I was expecting it to be
Xxx
Hi everyone, I’m going in for round 3 of FEC tomorrow morning. It seems I’ve been pretty unlucky as I was violently sick with the first cycle, so I was given an extra anti-emetic for the second one, which did at least stop me being sick - just - but I still felt incredibly nauseous for several hours. I’m just glad it’s the last one tomorrow, then I move on to Taxotere. The main things with that appear to be joint pain and issues with the mouth, but fingers crossed less nausea anyway!
Can anyone enlighten me as to the likelihood of losing eyebrows and eyelashes…so far they’re fairly intact, but does Tax have a worse effect than FEC?
