Hi queenie,
I’m really sorry to hear about the frustration you’re having. As if it’s not bad enough having to make that decision, once you’ve done it you just want to get on with it.
Well, you can vent as much as you like on this forum. There’s a really good bunch of people here and we all know about the hell of waiting, whether it’s to get an appointment, for results or even just to contact someone.
So whether you’re feeling up or down, worried or positive, we’re all right there with you. You’re not on your own.
Take care, hon

That’s fantastic that you have made a decision and of course you need to let them know now.I would just keep ringing round people.
I saw cons on 14th Aug - wanted me in within the week to have an area removed, I said I was going away next day (after 7 weeks of faffing about appts!!). They said they’d ring me on holiday to arrange date - they didn’t. Nothing in the post on my return, no call. Rang cons sec - date for 19th sept! Tried to discuss with BC Nurse - on holiday! Rang sec back asked why this conflicted with the 1 week comment on the 14th Aug - surgeons on-call and holidays. She then rang back with date of 7th Sep - diff hosp but same team)- told me “waiting list” would let me kknow pre- op date. Heard nothing so Friday rang hosp - put through to extention - no answer for 20 mins - gave up. Rang today - put through to cons sec " you need to talk to waiting list" …rang “waiting list” - couald I come in on Mon 10th - “Yes, but that’s after my op!!!” - Oh we don’t have that date …Oh it’s in the other unit , you need to ring there… Rang the other hosp. Spoke to a very nice man “what’s your hospital number?” “Don’t know, no-one told me - but I do have a name and d.o.b!!” They had no info on me so he said he would ring the cons sec and get back to me within 20 mins as I was going out. 25 mins later I rang “I was just about to phone you - I have tocontact the pre op nurse - I’ll leave a message, when is the best time for you” . And hooray - a message, pre- op tomorrow (preferred day given by me) at 11am (preferred time to account for 1 hour 15min journey time). Am I glad I chased it up? My little girl wasn’t though “Mummy are yo on the phone again? Mummy why do you have to keep ringing?”!!! And yes I too felt I was going mad!
If you don’t have any luck on the phone - how about writing to the cons - it will then be a concrete record and there for when he gets back - it’ll also be in your notes for anyother appropriate people to see.
Good luck in you quest for the holy grail!

Tinkers !!!
you must’ve thought you were going crazy!
Persistence does always seem to pay off, just a huge shame we have to do it, especially when really, we are not at our best. Letters and emails are very useful though as both sides can have “hard copy”, telephone calls can so often end up as a “he said - she said” and no proof.
All the very best to you all with communication nightmares - one final suggestion, have you considered getting your GP to do the asking?
