feeling low

Hi Ladies

I was diagnosed in August mastectomy in September followed by chemo I was triple neg/invasive ductal. I have been signed off from work for another 2 months and am waiting for reconstruction, although I am not well enough to work I am beginning to feel very lonely, I dont see my friends and family as much (they have their own lives!!) and am now trying to find things to do and have just emailed WI to see if perhaps I could join them. Has anyone any ideas, I can drive and live in the Medway towns.

I am feeling low and although my OH is trying to help its not the same as having a natter with other ladies!!

I know how you feel, I was diagnosed in Sept 2007, currently going through chemo ,last one next week, then rads for 3 weeks. I have always worked full time for as long as I can remember and have been off on sick leave since October 2007.

I thought I was going to go crazy from day time tv and as much as friends and family try and be there they are not always there. I started by going to healthy living days organized by Breast Cancer Care and also relaxation sessions held at the local hospital and from there I have met some lovely people who are going through breast cancer treatment who have become dear friends.

All the things that I have put off doing, I am now doing. I am slowly learning to appreciate being still and just doing what I want to do for a change.

Find out from your BCN if there are any groups or classes near where you live and take it from there.

Sorry for not getting in touch earlier, just feeling hectic at the moment. Had school holidays and have a 4 year old son, been organising “fun stuff” to do to keep us both sane.

Hope you are feeling better and have sorted out your incapacity benefit. Have you managed to attend anyworkshops, groups or anything? If you live in London I reccommend The Haven which is just by Fulham Broadway Station they have such a wide range of therapies to offer and you do get the first 8 or 12 therapies free. They do have support groups which I think are free. But its a great way of making that step of actually going out meeting other people. Breast cancer Care are also good with their workshops and its all free and they feed you as well!

I have met some really lovely people that I have clicked with and we see each for coffee or just chatting over the phone. I too have my down days, but I know sometimes I have to force myself to go out and do stuff and usually once I am out and about its not that bad really. It beats lying on the floor in your front room watching Jeremy Kyle !

I do really hope you are feeling loads better, just look for the things that give you joy and concerntrate on that. I have no time or patience for things that drain my energy or get me down. Since BC I see things and life generally as being really precious and I want to get as much as I can in this life because it really is too damn short.

Take care
Hugs Heather
