Hi all,
Just discovered this website Im 35 with a 3 year old and 18 month old and had a double mastectomy 2 wks ago. went back to hosp today for results and was basically told cancer was aggressive. what does this mean exactly??? they say aggressive but ealrly stage breast cancer because gone into my lymph nodes and they were also removed, but no where else. i have now been told i have appt with oncologist next week and then prob the start of chemo after that. with chemo do you always lose the hair??? is it worth trying the cold hat thing does it make any difference. I am still at the stage of not telling my little ones nursery mums so have basically avoided taking her I cant seem to get my head around this is really happenin. Also with chemo does the hair fall out after the first session.
would love to hear what you have to say i just cant see a light at the moment as i begin this journey. its like theres only so much you can take before you crumble im still getting over them having taken my both boobies away.
would love feedback from those about to start chemo and from those having been through it with kids and family how does it all work with all the side effects and trying to get on with a life.
many thanks in advance

Hi there,
I have just finished my chemo and am now waiting for my surgery. I didn’Chet the option of the cold cap at my hospital but some ladies have had good results. I was put on the chemo regime FEC-T. I did lose my hair 14 days after my first chemo. I had long hair and cut itshoot before hand.
Please don’t feel alone. I felt like you. I was trying for a baby when diagnosed ( I was 36 at diagnosis, and have now turned 37).
I am more than happy to answer any questikns you have about chemo. I know ladies that have bee through it with children too.
I would happilyout you in touch, and I am sure will get some more replies on here.
Take care,
Rae

hi ladies,
I am 29 and was given the news on July 20th. I only got married last year and me and my new husband were trying for a baby too. Since my diognoses I have had a mastectomy and reconstruction with implant under the muscle. I have also been going through fertility treatment but found out last week it was unsuccessful
I am due to have my first FEC chemo treatment on monday and to be honest im cacking myself. After reading some of the post i feel a little more positive but would like to chat more to people have already experienced chemo. I am also able to discuss my experience of going through surgery.
Take care x
Hi Jen,
I have already had my chemo - FEC-T. I had 3 lots of FEC and 3 lots of T. I had a portacath put in after my first chemo as my veins didnt cope very well and i also needed Herceptin (i will need a total of 19 infusions).
I can understand your fear re: chemo - as its fear of the unknown. Chemo for me was quite diffrent for the different parts of chemo i was on. I continued to work through my chemo though, as work allowed me to work from home.
FEC - made me feel sick and spaced out for the first few days after chemo. I usually felt a bit iffy for 5 days and then started to feel better again. My tastebuds went too. I could not stomach coffee or spicy food (weird for me as i love curry). I did get more tired too. Please listen to your body and make sure you rest when tired. I was also told to drink lots of water which was great advice…
T- this didnt give me any nausea at all. What i really felt was bone pain. I felt fine for the first few days post chemo. The sides effects seemed to kick in on day 3/4. I was given a lot of painkillers to combat the pain. By day 10 post chemo i started to feel like i was coming out the other side. I know the T part of the chemo is the most aggressive, plus the effects are cumulative so i am not surprised it took me longer to feel better.
If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask me. I am now 9 weeks post the end of my chemo. HAir is back. as are eyebrows and lashes…
