Feeling sick about tomorrow

Have found a lump in my breast and within a week I have an appointment at the hospital, there is a very strong family history of BC in the family, I have held it together until now, but my appointment is tomorrow, and I feel ill just thinking about, I have two children under the age of 5 and am only 31, this is my first time on this site, and I have found it really helpfull reading all the stories. Hi sla31

First of all, welcome to our forums, I am sure you will find them a great source of support and information.

I understand that you are feeling anxious about your appointment tomorrow. I have given the link here to our factsheet on the subject of referral to breast clinic, you might find this a helpful read.

I am also sure you will receive lots of advice from our other users.

The factsheet can be either downloaded or ordered through the site.

Hi sla31,
I know how you are feeling…I am 38 and went to doc around 10 days ago with one lump and the doc found 2 others. I go to hospital tomorrow for a mammogram and then the breast clinic on thurs. It is a scary time! my mum just had a mastectomy in Jan so I appreciate your concern regarding family bc. Here’s hoping it is nothing serious for us both. let me know how you go. good luck…will be thinking of you. Pamx

I went to my gp three times with my lump and on the 3rd time he actually rang my referral through whilst telling me he thought it was nothing.
It wasnt
I have grade 3 bc and i am 32 with a 2yr old and 9mth old.
I appreciated how fast he acted and felt reassured something was being done. Unfortuntaly its something that has to be dealt with and i only hope you have nothing more to worry about after tomorrow.

good luck

Hi Sal31

The fast referal could be down to an efficent service. I was seen and diagnosed within a week.

Statistically you are very young even with a family history ( Unless of course the family history points to young ages) I know that doesn’t help but you are nearly there. The worst is the waiting to find out things.

Its a big IF you are diagnosed with BC there is tons of support and treatment options, after the inital shock I expect you will be able to take charge of your treatment.

I will add that I have always seen more relieved faces coming out of my BC clinic than folks being lead off to talk to BC nurses.

I wish you the best news possible for tomorrow and that you can get back to ‘normal’
Take care

Good news, My lump is benign and is called a fibroadenoma. Thanks for all your support.X

That is fantastic news!
so happy for you.
