Femara at 39 - Advice needed

Hi!
I’ve finally plucked up courage to log on and join you!

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago at the age of 33. Stage 2B with 4 lymphnodes affected. I had 6 months of chemo, 2 years of Zoladex and have just finished 5 years of Tamoxifen. I was also tested and found to have the BRCA2 gene and opted to have my ovaries removed last year.

That’s the background. Now that I’ve finished Tamoxifen I’ve been offered Femara. To be honest the stories I’ve read here tend to put me off a bit!! I’m scared I’ll turn into 39 turning 60 years old. However because Femara is only given after the menopause most people who take it tend to be older. I’m wondering if there’s anybody out there taking Femara in their 30s. Are the side-effects the same? Is there any info about long term effects? Do these side-effects disappear once you stop taking it or are you stuck with them.

I’d really appreciate thoughts on the matter - i don’t have much support where I live and would like to have my thoughts straight before going back to the onc in October.
Thanks
Fiona
