Fibroadenoma at 48?

Hi Misty,

I hope today goes well for you and you’re feeling OK about tomorrow. How have your work been about it all? Mine have been very supportive so far but obviously it’s early days for me, I still don’t have treatment plan yet. I’ve said to work that I don’t intend to take much time off – I’m lucky as I work from home – but I also have critical illness cover so that’s reassuring, just in case I can’t work for a bit. I’m getting impatient about the hormone / MRI results and treatment plan now but I know that my hospital has their MDT meeting on a Wednesday morning so hoping to hear tomorrow.

My son’s doing good, he wants to come to some appointments with me where possible, I think he wants to feel he’s doing something to help.

Good luck today / tomorrow. Let me know how it goes x

Hi Springer

How are you doing? Any news on treatment plan? Hoping you hear this week.
Thats lovely of your son to want to accompany you to your appts and I agree in that they like to feel involved which is why I accepted lifts from my daughter as well as my partner. My daughter came to the pre-assessment last week which was nice of her.

It’sbrill you can work from home and have the insurance to use if needed, takes the pressure off.

I was made redundant last year, been looking but that has all changed now.
Im thinking of doing some voluntary work to keep my cv fresh and confidence up.

The picc line appt was cancelled yesturday due to staff illness but was done this morning before treatment.
Felt very flat yesturday thinking about today and the unknown but I had nothing to worry about!

Had 4 hours of treatment - Saline flush, steroids, chemo, immuno and final flush and 2 hours of cold cap. I was suprised how easy it all was, just a bit unsettling at first sussing everything out but soon adjusted.

The staff were so kind and helpful and very busy seeing to all the patients treatments and changing all the treatment bags on the stands. Given some nice lunch and offered regular drinks.

Found the reclining chairs very comfy and temperature was perfect, nice and airy which is welcome in this heat. I imagine its warm where you live too.

So all good so far, armed with steroids and anti sickness pills and feel as normal as can be.

Let me know about any updates

Spk soon and keep positive

Misty xx

Hi Misty,

So glad your first treatment went well. How are you feeling now, any side effects? Hopefully not. It’s great that the staff were so supportive despite being so busy. I’ve found the same so far, the NHS can’t be faulted in these situations.

It would be great if you could get some voluntary work but I guess there’s no rush, you can take your time to get through this. I think the mental strain is something we shouldn’t ignore, it’s easy to carry on but it is a lot to go through.

I had my follow up appointment yesterday. I feel quite lucky and optimistic as there were no additional abnormalities found on the MRI and the cancer is ER+, PR+ and HER2- so it’ll be the treatment I hoped for. Lumpectomy and radiotherapy. I will lose nipple but that’s not a big deal. Surgery will be around 10th July (date TBC). So I can go and enjoy my holiday the week after next before it all starts.

Let me know how you’re getting on and I hope you get to enjoy the sunshine this weekend xx

Hi Springer

Am so pleased for you that the MRI was a good result, something less to worry about now for you and you can enjoy your holiday now with a brighter outlook for when you return and then the surgery will soon be a thing of the past. Do you know how long you’ll be having treatment for afterwards?

Felt very much like a zombie yesturday, the heat doesn’t help. What suprised me is the hip and knee pain that’s appeared but luckily the ibuprofen is helping with that and is a common side effect of the cocktail of drugs I am on. Final day of the steroids today for this week so hoping that might help with the side effects. Oh, my taste has also altered and I couldn’t taste my Choc Pot dessert yesturday but as long as I don’t lose the taste of coffee, it’s all good

Hope you have a nice weekend and that you can relax more now following your mri results.
We’ll prob go and find a nice shady spot in the park today to relax in with a picnic.

tata for now and keep positive too xx

Hi Misty,

I sent you a direct message as this thread is getting so long! I can’t see it in my sent items though. Let me know if you received it.

Hi Springer

Sorry been in hospital most of the week
as was advised to go to a&e.
Had bad chemo induced peripheral neuropathy and they wanted to rule out any other conditions as I could hardly walk. On the mend now, have replied directly as well.
